Former quadruple World Champion Alain Prost has put himself forward as a potential part of Formula One's governance in a post-Max Mosley world. But the 53-year-old Frenchman, who after Michael Schumacher is the sport's most successful driver, insists that he would not simply want to replace the scandal-ridden Mosley as FIA president. Instead, he encourages the Paris-based federation to split the role into separate "sporting" and general motoring sides. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/27052008/13/...nance-role.html |

Is this possibly JMB reincarnated. The way Prost is talking he would reinstate FISA to over see sporting activites. |

it sound like a good idea and it make the job better with less flack comming from all sides and best of all the rules esp in F1 will not change just for the sake of it Mark |

Prost did such a great job running his own team wouldn't it be great to see him in charge of all the teams |

I don't think you have to have been a great team boss to run the FIA, I don't recall March winning many world titles. I just don't think though that Prost has a lot of outside success like Jackie Stewart can point to. Still I'm in agreement that bringing FISA back and having someone handling the road and someone else handling the race track (and stage) is not a bad idea. |

Prost's experience as an F1 driver and team owner makes him a good candidate, and he wasn't exactly immune to politics during his previous F1 years, but outside of F1 he hasn't accomplished much in the motorsports world. Although I wouldn't want to see Jean Toad take the presidency, at least he has experience in other motorsports besides F1. |

Prost went on to race in the Andros Trophy, winning the title in 2006/07 and 2007/08...

That's true, but with the best will in the world the Andros Trophy isn't quite as big as the WRC. |

Don't you fear he'd favor McLaren and Williams?

I actually think that Prost would make a good candidate as he was a very political driver and would stand by his decisions. When he believed it was not safe to race he wouldn't particularly in torential rain. At the time I saw it as cowardice but now as I have got older I take a very different view. He was actually making a very brave choice given that he was the only person to make a stand for what he believed. Potentially putting his career and reputation at risk. |

Usually he refused to drive in the wet when the rains came down while he was in the lead. Seemed to me like a call of "Please stop the race, I'm winning" |
