Vettel was, like Hamilton, to some extent fortunate with the timing of his pit stop, just as he was in China when he finished fourth. A good drive by him nonetheless, but Sutil was ahead of him in an inferior car, having started lower down the grid. So there is only one winner in my opinion.

I feel a bit sorry for Sutil, this is probably going to be the only race of the season where he will show what he can do. In the dry he just doesn't do anything of note.

It's good for Vettel that he managed to stay out of trouble for once. It may silence at least some of the critics.

I turned off the coverage as soon as Hamilton won. Nothing against his win, he drove very well for the last 65 laps or so and deserved to win, but ITV take the piss. It's inevitable that they were going to compare him to Senna, but to do it so frequently is pathetic.

Was Montoya compared to Senna in 2003?

Not to start a great argument here, but I don't think anyone's been particularly critical of Vettel lately, at least not here. All we've said is it's time to calm down comparisons with Schumacher.

I just accept it. Don't worry, we don't have to put up with it for much longer. <thumbsup> Course, who knows whether anything will change with the BBC.

A poll on Formula1.com asks the question "Which of these drivers impressed you most in Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix? Sutil, Vettel or Webber?"

Sutil has 91.67% of the vote so far.

That's because most of the Hamilton fans are watching the extended Hamilton won at Monaco press conference on ITV

And because Hamilton isn't an option. <roflmao>

Brilliant job by Lewis. But people seem to forget that Massa had him covered in the early stages. If Ferrari strategy of one-stop had not backfired then Massa probably would have won.

Kubica looked like he did the best possible job in the 3rd best car.

Sutil was simply outstanding. Damn unlucky.

Webber, Vettel and Barrichello did a good job for their respective teams.

Raikkonen was nowhere on pace compared to Massa. He has been very inconsistent so far this season. However he was a bit unlucky with the accident, it seemed as though he braked in plenty of time. Hamilton and Massa made equal mistakes and got away with them.

Yeah, Raikkonen's lack of pace was something of a mystery. Maybe the Ferrari drivers swapped helmets before the race.... ;)

That's even more batty than the guy who suggested that in Bahrain it was actually Schumacher wearing Massa's helmet. <doh>

Well in both cases they did very well to swap round so it looked like Massa getting out of the car!

Seriously, it was either a very good drive from Massa or a very poor one from Kimi. I'm inclined to think it was a bit of both.

Massa was outstanding in the first stint, quicker than anyone else by about a second a lap, which will hopefully put paid to the myth that he cannot drive in the wet.

Raikkonen on the other hand.......wasn't terribly slow, but made two really bad errors. I know Massa had a small off at St. Devote, but he managed to slow the car down when he did, unlike Kimi who broke his wing.

I think as ITV said Raikkonen was probably a bit unlucky with the Sutil incident, probably going just slightly off the dry line.

As I've said in another thread, I think they are joining in the hype.

I hear that FI have put in a complaint about the incident which took Sutil out of the race. I don't think it was any worse than Kovalainen's punting of Button, and it's pretty obvious from the replays that Kimi didn't do it deliberately, he had nowhere else to go and did not have control of his car. If you give Kimi a penalty, which I suspect he will get, you have to hand them to Kovalainen and Alonso, to name two others. Yet those incidents were skimmed over. In fact, Kovalainen's was ok because he apologised for it afterwards <dunce>

Alonso's was the worst. You could see well before it happened that he was not going to get past and instead would just hit Heidfeld, and he didn't even try to get up on the kerb to avoid him. Silly move.

Shouldn't Kova have atleast conceded the place he gained back, doesn't look like much of an apology to me.

Yeah, Alonso's move was pretty daft but IMO Kimi's was worse because it took Sutil out of a certain points-paying position, probably the only chance of points he's going to have all year. I am glad Force India are complaining about the collision, Kimi should get a penalty as although the incident wasn't deliberate, it was certainly avoidable.

There's a difference as well between tapping someone around and completely destroying their rear end
