It's a hard choice, but I'll go for crashing in the first corner.

Very harsh :P he'll finish 13th. Simply getting to the chequered flag with the car in one piece would do.

He's been unlucky I think. This year's Renault seems to be a worse car than the 07 Renault was, which seems hard to believe.

I think Piquet will make it to the end of the GP, but only by going unimaginably slowly.

I notice that other poor-performing drivers aren't being afforded the same criticism, however.

Probably most of them didn't boast about how they were going to kick Hamilton's ass last year.

I think TheCompleteGuitarist is spot on in all seriousness.

I remember Piquet Jnr making alot of comments last year about how he was going to be brilliant this season and how Hamilton wasn't anything special.

Quite frankly he is now ending up with egg on his face. F1 is alot harder than he thought it was going to be.

The Renault isn't brilliant but I think it is alot easier to drive than the beast Heikki got last year.

I doubt it, last years Renault had TC ;). When i watched thursday practise onboard with Piquet the car was terrible, really unstable underbreaking and loaded with oversteer.

On the other hand Alonso did a tremendous job yet again. In practise he was worried about the 1 lap place but pleased with the car in race conditions, watch out for Fernando today, especially in the rain.

Hamilton was given a championship-winning car in his debut season. You can't possibly try and compare the two.

Piquet has perhaps the 6th best car, maybe even 7th best. When you're a rookie, the last thing you need is a car that is unpredictable and handles like a dog. Hence why I think he's been unlucky. Renault should have provided him (and Alonso of course) with a good car, but they haven't. I daresay if they had someone else other than Alonso in the first car now, they wouldn't be making the top 10 at all.

It's looked the 4th best car since Spain in Alonso's hands..

Alonso's a double champion. Piquet's not. I'd expect Alonso to get more out of a car than 85% of the other drivers.

Of course! But Piquet makes it look like a '97 Lola. He's useless!

I think considerring they had the same team mate you can quite easily make a comparison. Especially considering lewis beat alonso.

lets not forget that piquet spent all last year testing the renault and alonso did not.

World Champions can get the best out of bad cars, rookies generally can't.

If Hamilton had been in this year's Renault last year, he would probably have struggled somewhat relative to Alonso too.
