I only ever watch the race, never the build up, but what really annoys me is how they constantly focus and cover the winners during the race. Surely in a fair world all drivers would get an equal coverage but I'm left wondering where my very good driver in a shit car is because he's not covered. Instead all I get to see are the fastest cars on the grid that Alonso wants to drive so as to guarantee himself more titles without having to make the effort now he thinks he deserves it.

It's NOT FAIR. I demand equality and less time focused on those privileged few at the front.

German coverage of the grand prix always gives each car an equal percentage . . . . do I need to put a sarcasm alert at this point?

some people feel the ITV coverage goes too far on the Hamilton love, to the detriment of coverage of other equally worthy drivers who just don't happen to be British.

To be fair, it's usually to the detriment of any non Hamilton driver....!

Yeah, even Button and Coulthard get a raw deal these days with all the focus on Hamilton. It can't even be said to be "patriotic" coverage, because if it was, those two would get more exposure.

Shhhhhh Mrs S, you'll shatter the myth of local driver-centric coverage in other countries ..........
<devil>

Not quite my memory of German F1 coverage in the pre-Sky Digital days. Certainly it was a bit more balanced, but the programme was a lot longer than ITV's. It used to start well before the race and the build up had some stuff with a studio audience and there was so much more time than ITV have now. Therefore they could lavish loads of time on Schumacher and still have plenty of space to fit in a Pedro Diniz interview. The post-race section was an epic as well.

I doubt ITV are suddenly going to have an about face and change their coverage in the last dozen races they have. Best pin your hopes on the BBC who have an obligation to be more balanced.

As for other countries, I think of one in the Iberian peninsula that didn't show F1 until a certain driver came along in 2002-2003. I wouldn't claim that every country does it but I'm sure that a lot of others do.

No wonder he doesn't get much coverage. I can imagine the conversations at ITV.

OK people, we're behind Hamilton all the way, he nearly got the title last year but for a minor error, so whatever you do.......don't mention the Button

I was about to add my tuppence worth into this debate... and then I lost the will to live.

It seems to me that we seem to be having the same circular conversations again and again. Nobody ever accepts anybody else's opinion (unless it agrees with teir own) and nobody ever changes their mind as a result of having had the conversation.

Everybody is left feeling that everybody else "will not see".

I am left wondering if we shouldn't have a moratorium on certain topics which have been uselessly argued to death.

Has anybody read anything new in this topic since the last time it was raised?

blimey, you dont how good uve got it. try watching f1 in japan. no practice, no quali. the race is never live - except jp gp. they show the first 10 laps then jump 15 laps forward.
its not live, but when they have ad breaks, they return to the race minus the laps of the ad break. even the home jp is 5 minute delayed so you cant watch it with live timing!

and talk about bias. JA is saint compared to the jp commentators. there is nothing about any other driver besides a minute or two overview of the leaders.

thank god for tvu and justin tv.

To anyone who doubts the bias of James Allen and ITV towards Hamilton, I say watch the ITV coverage of the Monaco GP.

Guilty as charged in my case.

I would have to agree though that given that ITV are not going to change in the remaining year of their contract there isn't much point in whining about it.

I feel tha most commentators in this country could learn a lot from the cricket commentry teams on 5 and radio 5 live. They get excited when england do well but also arnt affraid to praise and get behind the opposition if they are doing well.

not that I watched the race beyond the top 3 arriving in parc férme... I've seen it posted elsewhere that rather predictably ITV (who as we all recall couldn't be arsed to transmit the press conference when Lewis was 3rd) found time to overrun their broadcast by about 10 mins...
