Wet weather is likely to affect the otherwise glamorous running of the Monaco Grand Prix this week.

Weather forecasters are predicting mild temperatures at or below 20C all week, including Saturday and Sunday, and a possibility of rain throughout the coming days.

The highest probability for dry weather is ironically on Friday, when Formula One teams do not practice following Thursday's traditional first day of official action.

Another weather source predicts a dry race for Sunday, explaining that the forthcoming rain for the area may have cleared by the morning.

The forecast I use says rain on Sat and Sun but not Friday or Thurs. As long as either qualifying or the race is affected we may get some excitement. <roflmao>

I can't really see Trulli finishing any higher than 5th, assuming both McLarens and Ferraris finish. Still, where he qualifies is anyone's guess. I agree with Alien SAP Fiend that he should do well.

It's going to be hard to beat the Red Bulls and BMW.

Yeah, but Monaco's a funny circuit. Th experienced guys always do well there. I wouldn't be totally surprised if Trulli pipped the BMWs, bearing in mind that a good quali here sets you up nicely for the race.

Well he did take the pole and win there in 04. He should do well, but I just don't think the Toyota has enough in it.

With Trulli at the wheel the Toyota is probably the widest car in F1. At Monaco that will be a major benefit. Plus in 2006, the Toyota was nowhere near the kind of pace they have this season, and Trulli was running third before he retired, handing the final podium spot to Coulthard.

Trulli was also nowhere in 2007 when the Toyota was off the pace. Despite being held up by the Spykers, Ralf Schumacher actually caught him up and that's saying something.

As always with Jarno it depends whether his head is up or down.

Just to add another comment, Webber is another one who, on current form, I feel could edge at least one of the BMWs. I think they've fallen back since Bahrain, and are now a couple of tenths behind McLaren, let alone Ferrari. Webber also goes well here remember, running in 3rd in the Williams of '06 which got less than 20 points over the course of the season, before his engine went <kaboom>

(that smiley takes up a lot of space) <think>

Webber is a possibility, he was strong in Monaco in '05 as well. As with Trulli, he's a good qualifier so that will certainly help him.

Webber is good in quali, and he has a wide car. He could piss off a few top runners if he can start in the top 4 or so.

Can't help but wonder if in Monaco it is worth a lower team gambling by going into qualy with only 10 laps of fuel so that they then get pole in anticipation of there being a safety car period in the first couple of laps allowing them to juggle their fuel strategy and keep the race lead. Worth a punt.... especially if this is right:

When you say lower teams. That would be the lower teams that make it to Q3. I agree, might be worth a gamble. The way the FI drivers have been going its there's a good chance of a safety car on the 1st lap <whistle>

I'd say Trulli's head is up since Ralf left.

Lewis is bound to do well, he was supa-kwik last year.

Any team out of the chasing pack... BMW, Renault, Red Bull, Toyota, etc .... worth grabbing a few headlines by getting pole at least.

Vettel on pole (even with just a couple of laps of fuel) would get a lot of publicity for the team and keep Vettel out of the first lap trip ups.
