On a slightly different note, it's slightly sad that some people haven't yet cottoned on to the fact that Nelson Piquet isn't his father, even if the names are the same. <doh>

<wtf>

What I meant, TCG, is that people seem to be prejudging Nelsinho on the basis of who his father is, rather than letting him establish a reputation on his own merits.

Sorry, I get your meaning.

Certainly I didn't judge hime on that. I haven't even seen him race outside of F1. I based my opinion of him on the stupid, sorry no, the ridiculously arrogant things he said before he'd even got an F1 seat.

We live our lives surrounded by people who get on because they've got the big mouths and not big talent.

So I am at present enjoying seeing him squirm.

If he's got the talent, then great, good for him. But I ain't seen nothing yet.

A name will get you so far then you have to start producing the goods. Piquet has talent of that there is no doubt, it is just his talent is for bullsh*ting about how good he thinks he is not how good he actually is.

That said I think he is a good driver and has suffered for a year as a test driver much the Hekki before him did. By the end of last year it was clear Hekki was the better in driver at Renault but if you looked at his first couple of race he wasn't in touching distance of Fisi.

I don't think he is going to hit Alonso for 6 in the second half of the season but I think he will bring some heat to Alonso and make him uuncomfortable the way Lewis did in the early stages of last year..

Totally agree. Damon never spouted off about how good he was, he just won. Even JV produced early in his career. So far Piquet has nothing to live up to his own hype.

Just as well, considering he wasn't exactly all that good....

Well, 1 WDC and Schumi's closest rival for 3 years is not something to be sniffed at. After all, I wouldn't be too upset at being 2nd best in the world at something.

I haven't heard much big talk from Piquet in the last year or so, so is it possible he was just suffering from normal adolescent arrogance, and isn't actually that big of a c*nt? <roflmao>

Seriously, I don't think he's that bad myself. <think> And I do think he will eventually get some decent results, as he has at least shown in flashes what he can do, beating Alonso in quite a few practice sessions. I predicted at the start of the year that Piquet would outqualify Alonso on a few occasions at least, and I stand by that.

I'm pretty sure Jr was talking crap well within the past year, saying he wasn't going to take a back seat to Alonso and other statements how he was going to challenge Alonso from the word go. Now he has been pretty silent for the past 2 months....
