http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AD-KcZmFXC0 RIP The FIA says the Turkish Grand Prix organisers could face sanctions after two stray dogs ran onto the Istanbul track during the GP2 race on Sunday. "This was a serious lapse in circuit security and safety," an International Automobile Federation (FIA) spokesman said. "How could such a thing happen at an almost brand new Formula One track? "The FIA Safety Commission will hold a full investigation into the matter which may then be referred to the world council," he added. Asked about possible consequences for the circuit, which made its grand prix debut in 2005 and is now managed by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone, the spokesman said: "Sanctions cannot be ruled out at this stage." Bruno Senna ran over one of two dogs on the track during a GP2 race at the Istanbul Park circuit. The 24-year-old, who had come over the brow of a hill and had only a fraction of a second to react, was lucky to escape injury, with the impact breaking his car's front right suspension. Formula One race director Charlie Whiting said on Sunday he would send a report to the FIA. Sunday's incident was not the first involving dogs on the track during a Formula One weekend. Practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix had to be halted in 2004 because of canine interlopers. Is Bernie more upset that the dogs did not pay nor have passes to the circuit thus losing money Joking apart scary stuff. I remember Mexico in the 90's having dogs and people crossing the rack if my memory is not too damaged

Fortuantely, I missed the incident when I watched the GP2 live on Sunday. Turkey has a GP until 2021 apparently, but with this thing with stray dogs, and some consternation over using a podium celebration some years back as a political thing (I can't quite remember the story, but I think it involved some leader of Turkish Cyprus handing out a trophy or something), I don't think this GP is going to stay for long. |

If a dog is stupid enough to run onto a race track, then it gets what it deserves... |

Surely this is not true, he supports Sunderland so he must love animals, they are managed by one.

So, no sanctions for Montreal where Davidson hit a beaver or something similar? |

Well there is a slight difference between a dog and a beaver. Also Monteal's circuit is on an island so the beavers are probably indigenous to the circuit. Also Silverstone has a local hare population. |

DaMatta hit a deer a few years ago. Planners cannot keep a track totally animal proof. There needs to be standards to keep animals off track, and as long as Turkey was in the standards (if there are any), it's kinds hard to throw to much venom at them. |

Because dogs have the where with all to understand that a retaining wall is there to keep them getting hit by 150mph cars? |
