"There are some drivers who couldn't care less but they take advantage of the work done by others," he told Autosprint. "What these sensationally uninterested drivers don't understand is that the GPDA has a price. We fund it with a fee on the points scored.

"If the top six drivers are the uninterested ones, then there's a lack of money to survive and it's always the unlucky ones, the ones who get paid less, that have to sustain the costs. The figures are little. The entry fee was one thousand dollars, now it's probably one thousand euros, then you pay something like two hundred dollars per point scored.

"But what I don't understand is that you might not want to be part of the GPDA, then you can do what you want, but at least pay the money since you go on track too.

Who is he referring to (other than Hamilton)?

Who is he referring to (other than Hamilton)?

Kimi presumably, he's not a member of the GPDA, as far as I know.
He even has a go at former drivers. Although I cannot get what he expects from them <think>

I think he has a point (at least about drivers not being part of the GPDA). It doesn't take much effort to be a member, if 18 drivers can do it then so can the other 4. Hamilton's excuse of him being too busy is rubbish really.

If they don't want to join, why should they?

Surely for the most part, the safety of the drivers is up to the FIA? Ah, good point, maybe it would be better for people with half a brain to be involved too.... lol

I never said it made sense... I guess they'd still get the joining fee. But REally cant see why they'd want to join <doh>

I'm sure that the group also discusses on track protocol. ie how far back to start an overtaking manouver and what constitutes a gap etc...

Well funnily enough, it was actually DC who mentioned this if I recall, as a retort to one of his many 'encounters'

I can kind of see where Truli is coming from, but at the same time there is the "so what" factor. I'm certain Kimi and Lewis are not against safety, they just choose not to belong to the group. Simply don't invite them to the GDPA Christmas Party.

Autosport Story Here

Massa has now left the Grand Prix Drivers' Association...

Massa joins teammate Kimi Raikkonen, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Force India's Adrian Sutil on the list of drivers who are not members of the GPDA.
