This looks like another Honda publicity stunt, like their sick joke with SA. I'm sure they will get her hopes up and get her to burn all her bridges, right before pulling the rug out from under her, leaving her without a drive. <no>

I find it ironic that to her, doing an exhibition run in an F1 car is 'making her a show' and 'embarrasing' but this she is fine with. <doh>

Way to go, Danica. <thumbsdown>

Some people see posing for racy photos as no big deal. Many successful female athletes have done photo shoots for Sports Illustrated, FHM, and Maximum, several have even done Playboy. I don't think it is a big deal. She pretty, has a nice body, and she can show it off if she wants.

But doing an F1 test just because she is female might embarrass her because it is saying she's not good enough for an F1 seat (which I don't think she talented enough for F1), but Honda are willing to use her for the publicity.

Rob, when people look at that, what are they going to think? Is it 'Oooh, I bet she could be a future F1 star' or 'oooh, I wouldn't mind bending her over an F1 car'? I know which one I'd guess. Her comment that an exhibition run is demeaning is, in itself, a valid complaint, but if she's willing to be used as an exhibition in ways like this, then she apparently has no problem with that principle and looks like a raving hypocrite.

the bottom line is that Danica is not good enough (yet) to be considered for an f1 seat

i've watched nearly every race IndyCar she has competed in and she isn't quite there yet

RJHSaints, I think she got offered a helluva lot of money to pose for FHM, Sports illustrated and all that and she accepted the offer.

Wouldn't you?

Racing drivers don't have a lot of time to make money during what often turns out to be a very brief period in the limelight. Hamilton, Alonso, Schumi, Kimi and co pose for photos wearing watches and sunnies and so on, looking all sultry, why should Danica not be allowed to make an extra few bucks in front of the camera. Are you saying it's not OK for female sportspersons to pose for photos?

At 26 and with modern F1 teams apearing to prefer to bring in young talent rather than bringing in experienced drivers fromother series (seb the notable exception) she is begining to run out of time.

I wouldn't say she was used. And different people find different things embarrassing. Jenna Jameson even noted that she thinks doing adult movies is empowering, and for her it probably is.

But in the end does it really matter? If she was good enough for F1 she would get a seat and her attractiveness would probably help w/ landing sponsors.

Good to see we are disagreeing again. <thumbsup>

I think she's out of time. Webber was old for an F1 rookie at 27 when he started. Determination isn't enough to drive in F1. There are 20 seats and tens of thousands looking to fill them. Danica may go out as the most successful female in motor sports, but I doubt she will ever get an F1 seat (and the photo shoots neither help or hindered).

Not sure which Webber you're referring to, as Mark Webber was actually 25 when making his debut. F1 tends to go through phases of youngsters and "oldies" like many other sports. Given that the latest batch of debutants have proven themselves to be generally quite useless, there could well be swing back to older drivers. McNish made his debut at 30 odd a few years ago.

25? I though he was 27. I stand corrected.

i was trying to be diplomatic, i said 'yet' incase someone jumped down my throat and accused me being anti-Danica

she races in america anyway and all drivers that race in america are rubbish and don't deserve a place a motorsport so why are we even having this conversation?

i'm not a Seb Bourdais fan AT ALL but the shite surrounding his move to f1 from the f1 only crew was comical at best and sickening at worst

to see him race to the points on his debut even had me laughing and cheering on

and i can't stand the guy
