I wouldn't have thrown them off over safety concerns, they should have been thrown off because they're weirdos. I mean, what kind of guy thinks it is acceptible to drag his young girlfriend around by a chain. If it is a sexual thing then they should keep it in the bedroom.

A goth and his girlfriend, who he takes for walks on a lead, are complaining after they were banned from getting on a bus.

Dani Graves and his "pet" Tasha Maltby say a bus driver refused to let them board his bus in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

Mr Graves, 25, told the Daily Mail: "He shoved me off the bus. He said, 'We don't let freaks and dogs like you on'."

The couple have complained to the bus company that they were "victimised".

Miss Maltby, 19, a music technology student, said: "It is definitely discrimination, almost like a hate crime."

And she defended her lifestyle, saying: "I am a pet, I generally act animal like and I lead a really easy life.

"I don't cook or clean and I don't go anywhere without Dani. It might seem strange but it makes us both happy. It's my culture and my choice. It isn't hurting anyone."

Paul Adcock, of bus company Arriva Yorkshire, said: "We take any allegations of discrimination seriously.

"Mr Graves has already contacted us directly and as soon as our investigation has concluded we will inform him of the outcome."

"He gives me a bow of pedigree chum every morning and night and lets me out to shit in the garden when he gets home from work."

She acts animal like. Believe me if she was to bend over and start liking her bits she might well get some complaints, a few fan as well maybe. it's not normal to lead your girlfriend around town on a dog lead

1) What is he thinking letting here out of the house

2) That lead would be better suited to keeping her in the kitchen wher she belongs.

At this point I'd like to point out that not all music technology students are total wierdos.

Still, brings a whole new complextion on the phrase "in the doghouse". Barking mad.

The trouble is that people are too quick to use the 'safety' issue to hide behind. I was on a train recently where a young woman was asked, relatively politely, to move her enormous suitcase from where she'd put it by her seat because it was 'a fire risk'. The guard didn't offer to help her move it out of the way, of course, nor was there any suitable luggage space on the train for a briefcase, let alone large suitcase, but never mind.

Anyway, if these two want to wander around tied together, so bloody what? Personally I find them less offensive than those Muslim women who choose to hide in their letterbox (sorry, I forget correct term - yashmak?), or people trying to scrounge change/food/fags off me every night on the way back to the office. At least they're minding their own business. In any case, chain or not, she does look rather cute actually....

Personally, I think a religion that makes it's women hide behind veils is rather weird, but I wouldn't class them all as 'weirdos' as a result, nor ban them from using any services that I might offer. I'm quite sure if these two were from a religious minority, there'd be racial descrimination charges being bandied about, however, they're white and English, therefore open to persecution.

To be fair, I agree that certain extremist religion's treatment of women is more offensive than this, but it doesn't make these people any less weird. If these people are sensitive about people's reactions to their lifestyle choice, then may be they should reconsider their lifestyle. I've never heard of a naturist suddenly put some clothes on just because other people can see them naked. In other words, if they can't hack it, don't do it. Of course people will react funny to things that are very different to their own experience, not everyone is openminded or worldly wise. I'm not saying it's right, but we are only human. Remember, 50 years ago it was still illegal to be gay.

I definitely agree with you about the minority thing. That gets used as an excuse way too much, like the teacher from Dewsbury that was sacked because she wouldn't remove her veil (because the kids couldn't hear her properly). She successfully sued the LEA for discrimination.
