Everybodys (Well, my) favourite underfunded plucky MotoGP squad are still trying to make the grid. It's running late of course, but I hope they make it.

What would be the comparison between the budget of Team Roberts, and that of the F1 equivalent (say Force India), parky?

The big problem here is you cannot get budgets for MotoGP like you can for F1. F1 Racing does articles every year on how much each team is spending, there's never been anything like it for MotoGP.

But putting my guesstimate hat on, if Force India are spending around S80-90million I'd say Roberts need S2-4 million to lease the machines, maybe less if they are subsidised plus another $6-10 million to run two machines over the season.

Roberts have to raise far less, but they aren't bankrolled by an Indian billionaire and MotoGP sponsorship is notoriously tough for a non manufacturer team.

Thanks - quite remarkable that raising 10% of the budget should be far more difficult for a form of motor racing that arguably draws larger crowds at the track than F1 <think>

Is the TV audience for F1 that much bigger than MotoGP?

Depends on the country, but worldwide F1 has a larger TV audience, no question. The profile of cars in general is vastly higher too, I mean even though Honda do both I don't recall see any Honda bike adverts on British TV except during coverage of bike races.

Bernie got F1's act togther a lot quicker than MotoGP did with its. Consider that it was impossible for most countries to see the series until the early 1990's.
