They are going to lovely Zolder....

Here

But I don't think the Nordschelife is going to happen. Saftey is the big thing, but TV would have a hard time covering it as someone on that thread pointed out.

But also as pointed out - if you hold it during the 24hours weekend, the TV stuff ill all be in place anyway - and you can rely on the on board cameras if you need to.

Besides that, the TV Coverage is fairly non existant!

I've watched most of the WTCC races this year. You need Eurosport of course, but they do a very good job of it. Unless you mean it's non-existant on free TV, which it is.

Would it be a very interesting touring car race though? The nature of the track means it's going to string out. It would be a great challenge for the drivers, but for the viewer and spectator I think you want short sharp action from Touring Cars.

I think that WTCC races on the full ring would not have many laps in them, somehow!

I just watched the Macau final again. I remembered a moment when the (german) comentators talked about the possibility of another host for the season final because of logistical trouble, at least I thought so.

two of the comentators mentioned the Nordschleife as a possibility. the 3rd said something like : .....yeah i heard this rumour down in pitlane too. by the way, if any team boss listens right now, I apply for a guest cockpit ........

And yes that was right even

cheers :)

It would be great even if they ran it as a one-off special at some point. It should be held over the 24-hour weekend and would make a great addition to the calendar

even a one off special with just 8 laps would do great. the longer a circuit is the less laps you will have and thats just maths.
The (new) DTM slept on both ears when it came to race the Nordschleife and they badly need way worse puns than the Barcelona desaster.

It really couldnt come better for the WTCC than having a race or two at the Nordschleife during the 24h. They will have the best possible tv coverage plus 20% then.
One or 2 years ago i think british f3 did one or two races at the 24h Nordschleife too (not sure there) . I wonder how the coverage on that was in the uk since we usually get what eurosport did with le mans in the 90s. about 6-12 hours of coverage ..... thanks motors now LOL
The 2008 24h at the Nordschleife are supposed to be an international event again finally . Thats a good start for the 2009 edition with possibly even more telly coverage when HJ Stuck wants to win again with his two sons.
