I'm sure that Rossi has always rejected a move to Ducati due to the additoinal pressures of being an Italian riding for an Italian team and the nightmare publicity/expectation....

However, he's now seemingly not as reluctant:

Interesting admission from someone who said that he left Honda for Yamaha because everyone thought it was about the bike and not him. I guess he now feels that having the best bike is perhaps a necessity.

That's probably right, after all I think Stoner and Pedrosa are a bit of a tougher propostion than Biaggi/Gibernau. He can still win on a bike that isn't quiet the best but he can't fight for the title over an entire season like before.

He has gone on hte record in the past as saying he would never join DULLcati because it was too similar to the culture he was desperate to escape at Honda. Seems like a very strange thing to say at this point in his carreer...

Those feelings of needing to be seen as the "difference" are being outweighed by the more pressing need to win back the title.
