Happy Birthday James Allen (also known a Norbert, I think). I hope that you had a terrible day, as you have caused many for me, and I can't even watch ITV here in the states.

This is a True Story Guys -

I asked a face-to-face question of James Allen at an excellent cocktail party on Saturday night, at the Cafe de Paris, Monaco 1998, sponsored by California based GP Tours. I remember with glee how Mika Salo laughed when I corrected the factual errors in Allen's answer. True, it's been 10 years, but he still gets it wrong!

Salo, Ms. flood1, and I then had a long talk about Fender Stratocasters. I brought guitars up. I knew that Salo had a sponsor deal with them, and he and I both play the axe. He was pleased to talk about something other than the cars or the race, and he bought Ms. flood1 and I a couple of drinks.

I then watched the race from the terrace of the Hotel de Paris on Sunday. This cost me a fortune, but it was a once in a lifetime chance for me.

He drove the Arrows to 4th place on race day, and I was closer to F1 than I have ever been before or since.

I liked Salo, I thought Allen was in over his head.

That's a great story, Flood. Salo always went well at Monaco.

Thats a good story Flood. We should start a thread on famous F1 stars we have met or include anyone famous.

Nowhere in the same league as your story, but the closest i came to meeting an F1 star was last year in London when Massa did a demo to promote V power. By chance he walked by us after he drove an F1 car up and down Beldeivere road. My children still talk about it now, mainly due to him winning his first race the next race and my children recognising him on TV again.
