Autosport.com - Rossi rejects retirement speculation

Quote:

Valentino Rossi has moved to end speculation that he could walk away from MotoGP if he cannot get Bridgestone tyres for next season.

The Yamaha rider has requested a supply of Bridgestones after being disappointed with Michelin's performances in 2007.

It now appears that he will get his wish, but there had been suggestions that Rossi had threatened to quit the sport if he was forced to remain on Michelin tyres.

The speculation was heightened yesterday when Rossi appeared to give an equivocal answer about his future when asked if he could face the prospect of another year with Michelin.

But at Sepang this afternoon Rossi made a point of clarifying his position and insisted he would be on the 2008 grid whatever happened.

Now that would be throwing his toys out of the pram!

I don't think we have ever seen this side of Rossi before.

It has always been win win win win and lots of smiley faces but now he is losing he seems to be copying Alonso although nowhere near has bad and a better argument perhaps.

As I have said after a half a season of poor performance from Michelin its hardly a reason to give your team the strain of having two riders on different tyres.

And what if Michelin up their game next year and bridgestone plummet, I think Rossi would then become a laughing stock if that happened.

what happened to Rossi and Ferrari? Wasn't he meant to be a dead cert for changing to cars at one point?

In my opinion I think that was all a media stunt, I really don't think he was ever seriously considered by Ferrari.

After the way he has behaved this season I'm glad he never made the switch. He would have struggled more in F1 and possibly would have complained more.

I have a feeling that he could retire from bikes at the end of next season no matter what. Should he not win the title again then he might get fed up and throw the towel in. But should he win the title then he might think that after 6 titles and being the reigning champion that it would be the perfect time to either hang his helmet up or switch to car racing
