Autosport.com - Sepang resurfacing prompts tyre worries

A new track surface at Sepang is set to cause havoc for riders trying to choose their allocation of 31 tyres for the Malaysian MotoGP weekend.

The circuit was resurfaced in August, meaning that the teams are going to a circuit they know, but with an unfamiliar surface. They had faced similar situations at Laguna Seca and the Sachsenring this year.

Suzuki test rider Nobuatsu Aoki recently tested at Sepang using a Superbike fitted with MotoGP tyres, and autosport.com understands that the tyres Suzuki's MotoGP team had used at their pre-season test in Malaysia only lasted five laps on the new surface, which is reportedly tremendously abrasive.

seeing as bridgestones last the whole race and michelins(now referred to as shreddies) can only last half distance, i think ducati/suzuki/kawasaki and maybe gresini will be better off than the repsol/fiat boys....

as per usual... <rolleyes>
