Autosport.com - Ferrari in talks with A1GP Ferrari have confirmed negotiations with organisers of the A1GP series, amid speculation that they could supply engines to the self-styled "World Cup of Motorsport". "We are in talks with them," a Ferrari spokesman said at the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday, without giving details. The series made its debut in 2005 as a one-make single-seater championship for national teams using Lola chassis and Zytek engines. The 2007 season started last weekend at Zandvoort. I think Zytek are doing a great job with the engines and hopefully they are also considered for the new engine deal |

That would be a really good deal for Ferrari, Correct me if i am wrong, but they will get extra data from the tracks i assume and don't have to waste time on continual development of an engine, just keeping the spec the same on all cars. |

I don't think there is that much crossover in tracks, a couple at best. I don't think it could benefit them in that way. But it would be good financially for them if bad for Zytek, like the Spyker deal was bad for Cosworth. Not a good time to be a small engine maker I think. |

I would prefer if Zytek kept the deal. I think it's good that a top level racing series doesn't share the same main components as F1 - a chassis from Lola, Zytek engines and Cooper tyres - none of which are currently in F1 |

A1GP is obviously thinking the "powered by Ferrari" tag won't do any harm to their series profile either. Are Ferrari going to start moving into other areas? Sportscars? Champ Cars? |

The "powered by Ferrari" tag is probably the big coup for A1GP. A field of identical Ferrari chassis or engines or both would get attention A1GP doesn't get at the moment with main stream. As for Ferrari competing as Ferrari in other series, i doubt that will ever happen whilst F1 is around. |
