Autosport.com - Planned third round cancelled

A1GP has announced that it has been unable to find a circuit to host the planned Asian race in early November.

The slot on the calendar for the third round of the series had remained empty for a long time, and series officials have now dropped the date from the calendar, reducing this season's schedule to 10 events.

"A1GP regret to announce the withdrawal of the planned third leg of the 2007/8 season from the calendar," said a statement from the series.

"Despite ongoing discussions with various circuits across Asia, the series has been unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with an appropriate circuit allowing it to proceed with the scheduled event on 2-4 November."

It's a shame. There always seems to be one race cancelled each season and hopefully for next year they can have a confirmed calendar before the season starts

Its is a little bit stupid to confirm a race when you haven't even found a track to do the race on. <doh> <doh>

but the race afterwards is in Malaysia, I think, which is why I guess they were looking at somewhere close by in Asia <thumbsup>

They should have even tried to race in Dubai, Doha or Bahrain, halfway between Europe and Asia

That would be cool too. Maybe next year they might consider it seeing as Asia has fallen thru this time.

Well done, A1GP.

At least they didn't try to have a race at Curitiba this time!
