Australia The Racing 'Roos have developed a couple of key partnerships that ought to help them in the cockpit and the crew this season. With Ian Dyk entrenced in the lead driver role, the squad partnered with the Australian Motor Sport Foundation to bring in John Martin and Daniel Ricciardo for the reserve spots. A similar linkage happened with the Institute for Trade Skills Excellence to bring one of their top students to the team's garage to serve out their apprenticeship. Another new face in the Aussie garage will be Rob Arnott who will be the team's chief engineer. Arnott has F1 experience with Foote, Arrows, and Leton House to go along with his stint at A1 China. Ian Dyk - Ended the season as Australia's main driver last year and looks to be locked into the seat for this season. He took in one Australian F3 race this off season. He raced in that series the previous four years with a best showing of third in 2004. He ran in Australian Porsche Carrara Cup in 2005 and also has two years of Australian Formula Ford under his belt. John Martin - Currently sitting 15th in UK F3 and took the title for Australian Formula Ford in 2006 after winning the Victoria division of formula in 2005. Daniel Ricciardo - Currently sitting 11th in Italian Formula Renault after taking third in Formula Renault Asia in 2006. Brazil Emerson Fittipaldi is standing pat in the garage, but bringing in a new GP2 shoe in Sergio Jimenez to fit the bill as his lead driver. Jimenez will be chased by Rapheal Matos, who drove a handful of events for the team last season and is expected to land a seat in the Champ Car World Series next season. Another Champ Car driver, Bruno Junqueria, is very much in the mix for this seat. Junqueria also drove a couple of events for the team last season. Clemente Faria is another driver who's connected with the team, although he's more likely to be in the running for a rookie seat. Brazil, like many A1 teams, has been busy with the paints and have reworked the look of their car. Bruno Junqueria - A three time runner up in the Champ Car World Series during his seven seasons in the series. Junky also has made four starts at the Indianapolis 500, taking the pole position in 2002. He won the F3000 International series title in 2000 and took the South American F3 crown in 1997. He cut his racing teeth placing forth in Brazilian F3 in 1994. Sergio Jimenez - Drove for Racing Engineering in GP2 this season and sits 20th in points. He finished fifth in Spanish F3 in 2006. He ran British Formula Renault in 2003 and was the Brazilian Formula Renault chamopion in 2002 and competed in F3 UK in 2003. Raphael Matos - Took the Champ Car Atlantic crown in convincing style in 2007 after finishing forth in the series in 2006. Matos was the Star-Mazda champion in 2005, after finishing seventh in the series in 2004. He also holds championship hardware from the Barber Dodge National series in 2003 and won both races he entered in the Indy Pro Series in 2006. Clemente Faria - Faria is top of the pops in South American F3 this season after running a sucessful partial campaign in 2005. He comes from Belo Horizonte, the home town of Bruno Junqueria and former F1 and Champ Car driver Christiano da Matta. |

Canada Team Canada appears to be jumping into a marriage of equals as it joins up with Ireland after sharing race data with Great Britian for the last two years. John Village Motorsport have been dropped and Status Grand Prix, headed by Mark Gallagher, will crew the car for the Canucks. Gallager, who ran Ireland's car for the last two seasons, will be joined by Simon Coyzer as race engineer. His resume includes time with Jordan F1 and working with Nelson Piquet Jr. in GP2. Manor Motorsport has been signed on as the team's consultant. A couple of Canada's top up-and-coming racers will slide into the cockpit with Robert Wickens taking the rookie role while James Hinchcliffe will slide behind the wheel on race day. The team also revamped the livery of their car, dropping the retro-'70s look for something a little more up to date. James Hincliffe - finished fourth in the Atlantic series this season after pacing Canada to an 11th place standing in A1GP last season. He finished 10th in Atlantics in 2006, ran third in Star-Mazda in 2005 - edging out Graham Rahal and Marco Andretti - and finished second in Formula BMW USA in 2004. He also won the Bridgestone Racing Academy crown in 2003. Robert Wickens = One of many Red Bull junior drivers in this series, Wickens finished third in Atlantics in 2007 as a follow up to his championship season in Formula BMW USA in 2006. He took third in that series in 2005. He also snuck in a couple of races in Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup in 2006. China The Chinese team is sailing on a different tact this year as they appear to have parted ways with Dutch-born Ho Ping Tung and considering drivers from Hong Kong and Taiwan rather than insisting their drivers be born in mainland China. Congfu Cheng leads this crew of drivers with Qinghua Ma and rookies Lin Po-Heng and Marchy Lee fighting for the reserve spot. Hong Kong's Lee carries the best known racing CV while Tiawan's Po-Heng carries the up-and-comer standard for Asian drivers. Changes in the garage see race engineer Brian Ireland coming in to replace Rob Arnott, who left for A1 Australia, along with a brace of Chinese born mechanics. Ireland crewed with A1 New Zealand, Lebanon and Malaysia during his time in the series. The team dropped their double dragon livery for a yellow and red design. Congfu Cheng - A member of the McLaren driver development team since 2003, Cheng currently is sitting second in UK F3 National class. Cheng was China's second best driver last season and drove in formula Renault UK in 2005 finishing 11th in points. He drove in Formula Renault UK in 2003 after winning the crown in the Chinese Formula Renault series and running second in the Asian Formula Challenge in 2002. He cut his racing teeth in the British Formula Ford Winter series in 2001 after an extensive karting career in China. Marchy Lee - Currently sitting seventh in Formula Renault V6 Asia. Lee is a well seasoned campaigner since winning the Chinese Formula Campos series in 1996. He took the Formula BMW Asia crown in 2004 winning 12 of 14 events in what has been his only full season in any series. Lee has seat time in French, Asian and Australian F3, Formula Renault Asia, the Hong Kong Touring Car championship and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. Lee made an appearance in the 2002 Grand Prix of Macau where he finished seventh. His racing ambition is to drive in Champ Car for the 2008 season. Qing Hua Ma - Ma has been with the team from its inception mainly as a reserve driver. His seat time away from the team consists of two races in Formula Renault Eurocup in 2006, one race in Italian F3000 in 2005 and a championship season in Chinese Formula Campus in 2004. Lin Po-Heng - Currently sitting forth in Formula Renault V6 Asia after finishing fifth in the series in 2006. He won the Formula Renault 2000 Asia title in 2005 after two seasons in Asian Formula BMW where he finished second in 2003 and forth in 2004. |

Czech Republic Probably the oddest driving announcement of the series so far is this season is the team's declaration to go with relatively unexperienced Erick Janis over their stable of more experienced drivers. Seatholder Antonin Charouz seems to be hedging his bets having tapped Thomas Enge, Jarek Janis and Filip Slaquadra to possibly fill in if needed. The team stands pat in the garage, with Charouz racing running the car, but easily came away with the best looking revamp of their racing livery. Erick Janis - Currently sitting 22nd in International Formula Master and leading the Czech Formula Skoda series. Brother to last year's A1 Czech Republic lead driver Jerek Janis, he is apparently mulling over an offer to run in the World Touring Car Championship with Alfa Romeo next season. Jan Charouz - Sitting in 7th in the LMP1 class of the Le Mans Endurance series this season after taking the crown of the F3000 Masters series last season. He finished 11th in F3000 Italia in 2005 and had one season in German Formula BMW in 2004 where he finished 21. He's been with A1 Czech Republic since 2005 serving mainly as a reserve driver. France The DAMS run squad made minor changes to their squad, elevating Loic Duval to lead driver, adding only Nicolas Prost as their rookie driver and hiring former F1 driver Oliver Panis as a driver coach. The flying Frenchmen dropped their distinctive tri-color livery and hope to regain their first season crown. Loic Duval = A competitor in Formula Nippon and Japanese GT Supercars for the last two years. Duval currently sits seventh in Nippon and 11th in the GT 500 class of the Japanese sportscar series. Duval raced for France last season equalling the 32 points Nick Lapierre brought in for the team. Duval spent two years racing in the F3 Euroseries and holds championship hardware from French Formula Renault and French Formula Campus. Nicolas Prost - Currently running third in Spanish F3 in a follow up to his fourth place finish in that series in 2006. He has run in French and German Formula Renault and taken in a couple of events in the World Series by Renault and Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup. |

Germany With last year's championship driver Nico Hulkenberg not defending his A1 title the team has turned to backup Christian Vietoris to defend their championship. Other than that seatholder Willie Weber is playing by the if it ain't broke don't mess with it rule with David Sears crewing the car again this year. Christian Vietoris - currently sits fifth in German F3 after taking the German Formula BMW crown in 2006. He finished 17th in that series in 2005. Vietoris ran one race for the A1 team last season. Great Britain The team has a very different face in the front office with John Surtees having left the team. Paul Bellringer will be heading up engineering for the team's PowerHawk Racing crew and they've signed up Eden Rock to handle their marking and public relations. In the paddock they'll be sharing data with Portugal after spending two seasons with the Canadian team. Robbie Kerr and Oliver Jarvis will split the driving chores while Oliver Turvey takes the seat in the rookie role. The Brits are one of the many teams sporting a new livery this year. Robbie Kerr - Kerr was largely responsible for steering the team to its second third place showing in A1, but his grasp on the wheel was somewhat loosened by Oliver Jarvis, who won two races for the team last year. Kerr seems to have been idle this past off season after running in the Renault World Series in 2006 where he finished 20th in points. Kerr was the UK Formula 3 champion in 2002 and took the UK F3 National series title in 2001. He ran a partial campaign in Formula Renault V6 Eurocup in 2004 and has done a number of one offs in everything from International F3000 to Le Mans Endurance racing to the F3000 Pro series. Oliver Jarvis - Currently running second in the All-Japan F3 series after finishing second in the UK F3 series in 2006. He took the Formula Renault UK crown in 2005 after finishing eight in the series in 2004. He also has done a couple of races in the World Series by Renault in 2006. Oliver Turvey - The 2007 McLaren Autosport award winner he served as Great Britian's rookie driver at Shanghai last season. He currently sits fourth in Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup while holding down seventh spot in both Asian F3 and Italian Formula Renault. He ran a couple of races in UK F3 and Formula BMW UK in 2006 and did well enough in the BMW campaign to nail down second spot. He finished eight in Formula BMW UK in 2005 and ran at the front of that series in 2004. |

India If seatholder Yohann Setna says he's ready for his dream season in A1 it's all going to be due to one man. After two dismal seasons the team inked former F1 pilot Narin Karthikeyan to race for them, giving them a serious upgrade in the driving department. When Karthikeyan drove in a couple of events for the team last season they were instantly competitive and the team topped the charts in the recent A1 Silverstone test session. Ironically Armaan Ebrahim, who drove for the team in their first two dismal seasons, is currently leading the Formula Renault V6 Asia championship. Narin Karthikeyan - Currently a test driver for Williams F1 for the last two seasons after running his rookie F1 season with Jordan in 2005. He spent three years in the Formula Nissan World Series, reaching fourth in 2003. He ran three seasons in British F3, was the Formula Asia champion in 1996 and took the British Formula Ford winter series crown in 1994. Parthiva Sureshwaren - Racing in the Formula Renault V6 Asia series awhere he sits seventh in points. Sureshwaren is former national karting champion in India and drove in the Renault World Series in 2006. He also raced in British F3 Nationals, British Formula Ford, and Barber Dodge. He ran second in Formula Asia in 2000, took India's Formula Maruti title in 1999 and grabbed the crown in India's Saloon Car championship. Ireland The luck of the Irish seems to be more of a curse in A1 as the team has battled with reliability issues for the last two years. They've swept house in the garage, bringing in Dan Walmsley, Mike Henderson and Stewart Cox - all of whom have F1 experience behind them. The Irish squad also went for sweeping changes on the driving team by bring in Adam Carroll and bring back Ralph Firman, who was a consistent threat at the front of A1 in its first season. Adam Carroll - Currently sitting sixth in GP2 this season after being a consistent top 10 campaigner in his two previous seasons in that series. Carroll finished second in UK F3 in 2004 and was that series National division champ in 2002. He also holds championship hardware from the 2000 British Formula Ford winter series. Ralph Firman - Currently leading the Japanese Super GT points chase, a series where he's been a front runner the last three years. He paced Ireland to its only podium finish in A1 in 2005 and spent a year in F1 driving for Jordan in 2003. He took the Formula Nippon series title in 2002 to cap his six-year stint in that series. He also holds championship hardware from UK F3 which he won in 1996 after finishing runner up in that series in 1995. John O'Hara - O'Hara served as Ireland's rookie driver last season. He Finished 13th in Asian F3 this season and took the runner up title in that series in 2004 and 2005. He's been a championship contender in Formula Formula Ford Ireland and the British Avon Challenge. He holds championship hardware from Formula Europa and Formula Ireland. |

Indonesia After running with Ananada Mikola for the past two season and stealing the odd championship point here and there, the team has opted for a new driving tandem in the hopes of moving up the A1 ladder. To that end they've been taking a hard long look at Satrio Hermanto with Zahair Ali looking to get the nod for the rookie role. Satrio Hermanto - Currently sitting forth in Formula Renault V6 Asia and was the Asian F3 promotion class champion in 2006, when he took fifth overall in the series points race. He put in a race appearance in Australian F3 this year. Zahir Ali - Currently sitting second in Formula BMW Asia. Italy After making a great leap forward last season the team is leaving Enrico Toccacelo in the driver's seat and adding Paolo Bossini and Edoardo Piscopo to contend for the rookie slot. Enrico Toccacelo - Toccacello put the Italy into seventh last year's A1 championship after piloting the team to 14th in 2005/2006. He served as a test driver for Minardi in 2005 and finished 11th in the Renault World Series that season. He drove in the Euro F3000 series for three years, finishing second in the championship in 2004. He has also driven European Touring cars and Formula 3 in Russia, Germany and Italy after cutting his teeth by winning the championship of the Italian Formula Campus series in 1996. Eduardo Piscopo - Currently running in the F3 Euroseries after finishing 10th in Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup in 2006. He finished fifth in Formula BMW USA in 2005. Paolo Bossini - Currently sitting ninth in Italian F3 after failing to score points in the series last year. Guiseppe Termine - Currently running seventh in Italian F3 after taking the Italian Formula Azzura championship in 2006. Termine started racing in Italian Formula Ford in 2004. |

Lebanon A slew of changes abound for this team which is the only squad in A1 to have yet to score a championship point in the series. Argo Racing will get the task of working the car into shape and the team has raided the garages of A1 Germany and New Zealand for mechanics and crew. The team is also pulling out its citizen by parentage card to get Chris Alajajian and Jimmy Auby to compliment returnee Khalil Beschir as the team's drivers for this season. Khalil Beschir - Has been involved with A1 Lebanon from the onset despite having put in just a handful of race appearances over that three-year span. He did one season in F3000 Euroseries in 2005, finishing 13th and put in one race appearance in Italian F3 that year. Chris Alajajian - Running in the Australian Fujitsu V8 Supercar series and currently sitting ninth in Australian F3 in his forth year in the series. His best season in Australian F3 came in 2005 when he finished third. He has run Australian Procar, taking the championship title in 2004. Jimmy Auby - Currently running in Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup and sitting fifth in the South African WesBank V8 Super Series. His career has followed a strange path considering he started racing stock cars at the age of 15 before he started racing karts in the Rotax World series in 2004. Auby also drove in the first A1 event at Durban racing in the Volkswagen A3 support series where he finished sixth. Malaysia The team got off to a great start last season, but faded somewhat as the year wore on. They're back with Alex Yoong, Fairuz Fauzy and Aaron Liam for another go at it this season. Alex Yoong - A1 Malaysia's lead driver since the series started, Yoong paced the squad to a fourth place standing last season after finishing fifth in 2005/2006. He spent the off season racing for Jan Charouz in the LeMans Endurance Series where he is sitting 14th in points. Yoong is a well travelled veteran racer who has competed in F1, Champ Car, Formula Nippon, F3000, Australian Supercars, F3, Formula Renault and Formula Asia since breaking into racing in 1994. Aaron Liam - Currently sitting eight in the Formula Renault V6 Asia he finished fifth in Formula BMW Asia in 2006 after running eight in 2005. Fairuz Fauzy - Started the year in GP2 and dropped into the World Series by Renault where he currently sits ninth. Fauzy ran the previous two years in GP2. He's also raced in UK F3 and in Formula Renault UK during his six seasons in the sport. |

Mexico In the first A1 season the squad surprised a lot of people by running a relatively unkown kid in Salvador Duran, even though they had more seasoned talent at hand. With Duran unavailable to them at this point, they look to be attempting to turn the trick again by putting a trio of kids to the task of running for the race seat. Juan Pablo Garcia - A 19-year-old driver currently running seventh in UK F3 National class. Alfonso "Picho" Toledano - Sitting atop the standings in the Panam GP series, basically Formula Renault 2000 of Central America. He took the 1600 cc title in 2006 and raced Formula Campus in France in 2005 against A1 campaigners Jean-Karl Vernay and Nik Iruwan, who raced for Singapore last season. He was also the winner of the 2006 Ricardo Rodriguez award (best young driver). Arturo Gonzalez - Sitting third in the Panam GP series and has been doing test sessions for a run in Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup for next season. Netherlands After being left standing at the alter last season when Jos Verstappen bolted from the team with less than a week to go before their season opener the squad soldiered on to an outstanding fifth place finish with Jernone Bleekemolen at the wheel. For this season seatholder Jan Lammers added Arie Luyendyk Jr. to the team while standing pat in the garage. The Dutch squad have also reworked the livery of their car though an on-line contest which drew thousands of submissions from around the world. Jernone Bleekemolen - The team's lead driver last season Bleekemolen steered the squad to an ? place finish. He spent the off season running in the Porsche Supercup series where he currently sits eight in points and put in an appearance in the FIA GT championship. He ran a similar sportscar campaign in 2006 after taking the title of the Benelux Racing League's V-6 touring car group in 2005. He spent the previous two seasons running DTM and campaigned in British and German F3 series. He has run FIA GT racers, driven Formula Palmer Audi, and competed the Dutch touring car series. In 1998, he took both the Benelux and Dutch Formula Ford championships. Arie Lunendyck Jr. - A six-year veteran for the Indy Pro Series with a best championship showing of second in 2002. He has had but one race in the Indycar Racing League and spent his early years racing in Benelux Formula Ford, US Formula Ford, Barber Dodge and the Action Trucks series in the US. |

New Zealand Last year's runner up, the quick kiwis are another team that's standing pat. Jonny Reid will be the team's lead driver while 17-year-old Brendon Hartley will slide into the rookie spot. Jonny Reid - The Kiwi's lead driver for much of last year, bringing the team to a second place finish last season. Reid ran in F3 Japan for two years finishing eight both seasons. He finished fourth in Superfund Euro in 2004 and was runner up in Australia's Formula Holden in 2003 while becoming New Zealand's Formula Ford champ that year. Brendon Hartley - A Red Bull Junior driver, Hartley is currently leading the chase for the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup in his second year in the series. He also ran in Formula Renault 2.0 Italia in 2006, nailing down fifth spot in that series. Hartley cut his racing teeth in Formula First, Formula Ford and the Toyota racing series in New Zealand. Pakistan After being the tail-ending team in A1 last season the squad has gone back to Adam Khan to help them climb up the points ladder. While never a race contender in his rookie A1 season Khan was consistently sniffing around the edges of being in on the points. Preseason testing has the new-look team running midfield, a big improvement over the dismal season the team had with Nur Ali last year. Adam Khan - Running in the World Series by Renault this season after sitting out the 2006 race year. He drove in German and UK F3 in 2005 where he finished 11th in UK Nationals and 18th in Germany. He also ran in Formula Renault V6 Eurocup and did a stint in the British F3 Winter series. Khan once was a protege of former F1 owner Eddie Jordan and did some testing for the Jordan F1 team in 2003. |

Portugal It took this team more than half a season before they got themselves to the track and once there they ran in very competitive form with up and comer Alvaro Parente at the wheel. The team finished in 17th last season while racing in only four of the 11 events on the 2006/2007 calendar. The team announced Joao Urbano was going to be their lead driver for this season, but Parante has also been running the car in preseason testing. Joao Urbano - Ran a couple of races for the team last year after being their reserve driver for the 2005/2006 season. Urbano spent the 2006 season in the Formula 3 Euroseries, finishing 19th in points. He drove in German Formula BMW in 2005 and finished forth in UK Formula BMW in 2004. Alvaro Parente - The points leader in the World Series by Renault after running fifth in the series in 2006. Parante was one of the kids that shot to prominence in A1's first year as he paced the team to a ninth place finish. He ran away with the British F3 championship in 2005 after driving in the UK series in 2003, a season when he also drove in Italian F3 and the F3 Euro series. He placed fourth in Spanish F3 in 2002. South Africa The team started last season with a bang as driver Adrian Zuagg ran head-to-head with standout kids Nico Hulkenberg and Salvador Duran during the early part of the campaign. Sadly an injury sidelined Zuagg and South Africa's fortunes fell from there. They're back with Zuagg who's become a more polished driver with a season in the World Series by Renault under his belt. The hired Humphrey Corbett as race engioneer, who has an extensive F1 background, and team will be working with France on race set ups. Adrian Zuagg - A member of the Red Bull driver development program Zuagg currently sits 17th in GP2. In 2006 he bounced around in a variety of series taking second in Italian Formula Renault and a couple of podiums the Renault world series. Zaugg placed placed sixth in Renault 2000 Eurocup in 2005. He finished seventh in German Formula BMW in 2004. Wesleigh Orr - A twice winner of Rotax world championship and campaigned Formula Renault South America this past season. Orr came out on top of a four-way fight to land this rookie seat. |

Switzerland The silver bullet is gone and the team is reloading in the garage buy bringing F1 engineer James Robinson who heading up the engineering crew for World Championship campaigns for Nelson Piquet, Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. Neel Jani is back in the saddle with the team, which struggled without him in the early part of last season. The team is also trying out two female drivers for their rookie slot. Neel Jani - After two seasons with A1 Switzerland, Jani's career to a western turn landing him in the Champ Car World Series where he currently holds down seventh spot in the championship points. He spent 2006 as a test driver for F1's Toro Rosso. Jani finished seventh in GP2 in 2005, fourth in Renault V6 Eurocup 2004 and second in Formula Renault 2000 in 2002. Sebastien Buemi - Currently running second in the F3 Euroseries in his second year in the series and was a German Formula BMW standout in 2004 and 2005. He took the Formula BMW world title in 2005. Natcha Gachnang - Twice on the podium in Star-Mazda this year, Gachnang sits 14th in that series. She's spent three years in German Formula BMW, with a season best fourth place points standing, and has run in German F3 and the F3 Euroseries. She's also a former Swiss karting champion Rahel Frey - Currently sits 17th in International Formula Master and finished 21st in Formula Renault Eurocup. She;s driven in Italian Formula Renault and spent two years in Swiss Formula Renault where she finished third and fourth in the championship. USA The Americans made a healthy move up the ladder last season, but obviously have loftier ambitions. The squad has gone to an in-house crew this season after running with West Surrey Racing last season. The crew will be lead by Peter Briggs while Leon Gutfreund will serve as race engineer. Gutfreund was the team's data acquisition specialist last year. Marc Lawrence fills in as crew chief, Geoff Bushor will be the data engineer and Ric Landis will be the chief mechanic. Team USA also brought in an experience racer in Buddy Rice and look to be adding Charlie Kimball as their rookie driver. Buddy Rice - A six-year veteran of the Indycar Racing League and winner of the 2004 Indianapolis 500. Rice holds championship hardware from his 2000 campaign in Formula Atlantic. His extensive 11-year racing career also includes events in Grand Am sportscars, Champ Car and US Formula Ford 2000. Jonathan Summerton - Drove in the F3 Euroseries in 2006 finishing 13th.
