The Pramac D'Antin Ducati team have released rider Alex Hofmann from his contract for the 2007 season after the German rider pulled out of Sunday's Estoril race due to a lack of motivation.

The team were not happy with Hofmann's reason for withdrawing from the race on Sunday with teammate Alex Barros forced to retire with bike problems.

Team boss Luis D'Antin said after the race that Hofmann's future at the team was under review. That review has now been completed, the team deciding that Hofmann's tenure with the team is over.

"After the Grand Prix of Portugal, during which Alex Hofmann entered the pit boxes with 17 laps remaining, and said, 'I don't have the motivation to fight for the last positions', the Team management of Pramac-d'Antin have decided to release Hofmann from his contractual obligations for the remainder of the 2007 MotoGP season," the team said in the statement.

The team are now looking at a replacement rider for the last four races of the season, with Briton Chaz Davies among the possible candidates, who substituted for an injured Hofmann earlier in the season.

What stood out above the race was Rossi's tribute to Colin McRae, it wasn't like the Barry Sheene T-Shirt in 2003, but still Rossi's affinity for true racers whatever their category is something you just don't see that much now.
