Felipe Massa has his sights set on an end of season push for the championship, on the return to the scene of his maiden Formula One victory in Turkey this weekend.

The Brazilian, currently on holiday in Miami, thinks the high-speed nature of the tracks coming up on the calendar will play to the strengths of Ferrari's F2007 car.

From http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/61661

Massa is currently fourth in the standings, 21 points behind Lewis Hamilton with six races to go. The only way he can win the championship is by winning as many races as possible, and hoping that the drivers in front of him falter on multiple occasions.

Is it too much to hope for? We've seen so far this year that Massa is good when he's in the best car at the front of the grid, but his performance last weekend in Hungary shows that when the pressure is on, he often fails to deliver. The pressure of coming from behind to take a world title will be more than anything he's ever dealt with up to now, so can he silence his doubters and snatch the world championship in the closing stages of the season?

I think he will have the car in which to do it - the Ferrari will be better suited to many of the remaining tracks - but I doubt he has the ability to keep his head in what promises to be a tense final third of the season. He is too far behind the McLaren drivers to win purely on pace alone, so he needs them both to slip up before the season is out - and given the reliability of the McLaren up to now, I can't see that happening.

Sounds a little too much like DC of old...........though Massa's chances of winning are greater than DC's were.

Although DC never had to contend with team orders, which Massa may well do if Kimi takes a commanding lead over him in the next couple of races.

If Kimi's car breaks down again it could well be the other way round and kimi support Massa?

If he wants to win the title, he has to beat Raikkonen in the same car. I don't think he can do that.

Yes, I can definitely see that happening. Ferrari want to win a title, at this stage they don't care which, and if they have to use team orders to give one of their drivers a shot at the WDC, I think they will. At the moment, though, it is too close to call between the Ferrari drivers, which is why no clear number one has emerged at this point. If one of them takes a sizeable lead in the next couple of races, I would expect to see team orders come into play.

There was atleast one occasion when DC was much closer to the leader with 6 rounds to go than Massa is this year.... <rolleyes>

If things don't change then he has little real chance. If the Hamilton/Alonso argument spills onto the track "ala" Prost/Senna and they both end up with a DNF then he will have a real chance of a tilt at the title.
He has shown that he can beat Kimi but only if he starts infront of him on the grid.
If there are a couple of bizarre races which upset the order at present then maybe third spot is a distict possibility.
After this weekend we may have a clearer picture of final standings.
