So is Rossi's problem the tyres, the bike or the rider? Perhaps after ebing so dominant for so long he's suffering a Schumacher-esque lack of self motivation, even if he is still usually faster than Edwards (?).

One thing is seemingly sure - he's unlikely to move to Ducati, I'm sure he once mentioned that there's no way he could ride for an Italian team again due to the nightmare of living in Italy and being a sporting icon, which is why he moved to London....

IMHO, its a combination of all 3....

the tyres are the biggest of them but the michelins are just not performing as well as the bridgestones this year...
the bike is not too good either....at the beginning of the season, it was ok but the other makes have moved forward whilst yamaha (and to a lesser extent, honda) have kind of stagnated...probably due to have uncompetitive tyres and not enough data from satellite teams etc...
motitvation is the least of the problems for rossi. it would be better to call the whole tax dodge thing a distraction more than a problem....

all in all tho' rossis biggest problem by far is that bloke casey stoner.... :D

i do believe that he is the biggest reason why rossi cant even buy a win now..

But you're absolutely right in saying that. Interestingly, Rossi went into last years Brno race with a bigger points difference to Hayden than with Stoner this year. Last year he clawed it back to even take the lead towards the end of the season.
This time the Stoner/ Ducati/ B'stone combination has been impeccable, leaving little hope for Rossi to claw back points in big chunks.

last year i had the gut feeling that rossi would overhaul hayden by the end of the season...his points deficit was down to blown engines and faulty tyres(in the main)

this year, i dont get that feeling at all....his points (or lack thereof)have been hard earned on a slow bike with crap tyres...not due to "bad luck"....

i just dont see him getting close nevermind winning it.....too many others who are ready to take stoners place in front(of races, not the championship)...

I think you've got it spot on. I felt the same as you last year. But this year, unless something amazing happens.... <no>

Only a repeat of what happened to Mick Doohan in 1992 can stop Stoner now and I don't think anyone wants that..

But it would be the first championship for a European bike in the top class since 1974. What Ducati have done this year is incredible for such a small manufacturer.
