Autosport.com - McLaren appeal date set

McLaren's appeal against losing their constructors' championship points at the Hungarian Grand Prix will be heard on September 19.

The Woking-based team were handed their penalty by the race stewards in the wake of world champion Fernando Alonso blocking teammate Lewis Hamilton in the pits during qualifying at the Hungaroring.

McLaren had initially considered not pressing ahead with their appeal, but eventually decided to. The team took 15 points from the race, with rivals Ferrari only scoring eight.

A statement issued by the FIA on Friday said: "The International Court of Appeal (ICA) will meet in Paris on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 to hear an appeal lodged by the Motor Sports Association on behalf of its licence-holder Vodafone McLaren Mercedes concerning a decision of the Panel of the Stewards of the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix.

"In the interests of transparency the hearing will be open to members of the press and details of the accreditation procedure will be published closer to the time."

So that's two court appearances in less than a week, to add to the 3 races and possibly a Monza test that they will be at. It's a busy month for the Macca boys!
