Spyker boss Colin Kolles has confirmed that his team's future participation in Formula One is not in doubt, despite the problems of their parent road car company.

Dutch sports car maker Spyker Cars NV is looking at selling its shares in the F1 team to help boost its finances.

From http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/61538

Driller says that the fact Spyker are selling up (possibly to Michiel Mol) does not mean that the Spyker outfit will cease to operate in F1. Is he just reassuring us, or trying to hide something from us? Can Spyker survive without the backing of a major parent company?

In related news, "senior sources" at Spyker have confirmed that the future of the team is "healthy and secure." Sounds serious.

<grrr> Bit like the captain of the Titanic.
There is no danger of sinking.

Spyker are in a desperate situation closely followed by Super Aguri.
They might manage to see the season out but without a major cash injection, very unlikely in my opinion this will be their last season in F1. <grrr> Not good for F1 at all

Very likely, don't you mean?

It's the harsh reality of modern F1, I guess. They will struggle to get sponsors because they get very limited TV coverage. I hope that both are in F1 next season, Super Aguri especially so because I think they are great. It's easy to say they are just a Honda B team, but the fact they are beating their 'parent' team is brilliant IMO. And Spyker...I'm not a fan but if they could get more cash I think they could do well. They do next to no testing and don't embarrass themselves.

he's doing two things. He doesn't want to put off any potential investor that it is doom and gloom as that will make the outfit look uninvestable. Also if he is gearing up for a complete sell out, he'll want to get the highest price so wont want to devalue it.

Yes That's exactly what I mean't. Bad punctuation on my part.

No worries :P I'd say it would be bad for F1 if both were to pull out and no-one bought them out or replaced them, but there were many teams who wanted to be on the calendar for 2008...

I would like to see Super Aguri split from Honda and be their own team, if someone else puts investment into the team alongside Suzuki then that is possible.

They are team with great spirit so it would be great to still see them on the grid without the customer team label.

I think Spyker have done a decent job this year on very limited resources, at times they have only been 2 seconds off the front running pace, in most seasons the back row F1 team have been alot furthur back. In their first full season thats a good acheivement. (Remember they nearest two rivals are the customer teams)

So I would very much like to see Spyker stay and carry on. It would be a shame if the team changed ownership again.

Now Alex Shnaider is also saying that everything is fine: Link

The more people we get reassuring us that Spyker isn't about to go under, the more worried I get! It's looking bleak for them at the moment, that's for sure.
