Autosport.com - Prodrive F1 plans 'progressing well'

Prodrive's plans to enter Formula One are progressing well, autosport.com has learned, despite an expected announcement about their car and sponsor plans having not been forthcoming yet.

The team's boss David Richards said earlier this year that he hoped to announce his plans for 2008 in the summer, and at the British Grand Prix in July he suggested matters could be confirmed within a matter of weeks.

McLaren also set a July deadline if they were to link up with the Banbury-based operation for a car and chassis supply deal.

Despite the lack of an official announcement, it is understood that work is still ongoing behind the scenes to finalise sponsorship, car and driver plans.

So with the McLaren deadline passed, who will Prodrive hook up with if McLaren refuse to supply chassis and engines? It is too late to start designing their own chassis, so a customer chassis is the only way they can go

Perhaps the delay has been caused by McLaren getting embroiled and otherwise distracted in other directions recently??

Maybe McLaren were going to supply Prodrive with a Ferrari chassis?
