If Alonso decided to leave Mclaren would BMW be a good option for him?

In terms of the car and the team I would say yes because I believe they have the rersources and finance and the man power in order to build a championship winning car in within the next couple of seasons and they have already shown that they have a good development rate.

However Alonso would not have number 1 status at BMW(just like now) as he would either be alongside highly rated Kubica or highly rated Heidfeld.

Kubica would give Alonso the same problems as Hamilton and will be right with his pace and Heidfeld won't be too shabby either. If it came down to a choice Mario would rather one of his own won the championship i.e Nick or Robert. Maybe that could creep into it.

If Alonso accepted the fact that he would get a huge challenge from his team mate then maybe he could be champion there. If he demands to be the undisputed number 1 driver then the team won't want him.

Maybe Alonso is just better off staying at mclaren and stop throwing toys out of the pram because the same events that are happening now could happen at whichever team he drives for and mclaren are still the best long term option in terms of championships I feel, thats if he wants to win more than 3 titles which I suspect he doesn't which is why I think he will retire if he wins his 3rd title this year.

Hamilton's better than Kubica and Heidfeld so there wouldn't be a problem. Neither Kubica or Heidfeld have ultra-strong links with BMW so there would be no grounds for Alonso to complain that he is not being treated as well as his teammate.

I reckon if he was to go to BMW it would be an ideal move for him, because BMW's recent progress has been very impressive, and surely challenging for wins isn't that far away. He'd also be away from the British media which have done nothing except get on his back this year.

You are right about the British media there, that would be a huge pain taken away from his backside so an advantage to moving to BMW

Although the Polish press may cause him a problem but surely not as bad as the British press.

The Polish press can't be anywhere near as bad as the British press!

Well the big thing regarding the Polish press is they have no knowledge of F1 as they have never had a decent participant in the sport before so I guess that could lead to some stupid arcticles and quotes but still with that it won't be as bad as the British press and the Polish press don't have a huge prescence in the world like the British press seem to.
