If it was on purpose which is not clear, he's done well. He does not have full support from Ron so he has to create his own. |

No different to what Schumacher did at Monaco last year. Both were gamesmanship to prevent their main rival from getting their last quali lap in. Therefore both should be treated the same way. |

Impressive bit of thinking. But very very wrong. Of course in a F1 which happily tolerates startline swerving and blatant blocking we can now add a new concept: Pitblocking. Naturally it would be a bit hypocritical of the FIA to start enforcing driving ethics now, and McLaren certainly aren't going to protest their own driver. |

All that I can say, is that if it was on purpose, Alonso would be right up their as one of the most intelligent people in the planet to be able to time the delay to the exact second that only just allows him through but not Lewis. All of this in the heat of the moment in the cockpit. I don't think that even rain man could do that!! |

Unbeleivable that we have a post were we are praising Alonso for this 'inspired' move. A year ago, forums were rightly tearing MS apart for doing the exact same thing to Alonso at Monaco. If you compliment this move then you compliment MS at Monaco. Neither move was subtle, but each timed to perfection. Only difference is Alonso will get away with it as its his team mate. |

I thought Alonso had made a mistake but he started his last lap with 3 seconds left before the flag dropped. Impressive stuff but if he had not made it

Yer very true. M Schumacher use to get a mass of stick for doing just as Alonso has done. Every Champion must do their most to Win another Championship even when unfair play is involved. Senna,M Schumacher and now Alonso are all true to this fact. The desire to Win is the most important part of being in F1 |

In the tire change before, McLaren held Alonso purposely to time the exit, and then flubbed it up witht he tire warmers. If they had released him on time then they would have denied him the opportunity to screw Ham. That's what will happen next time, now that they know of his willingness to take any advantage, they will avoid giving him the chance by releasing him well before it gets critical. |

I think the reason why Schumi was slated and Alonso is praised is due to their past. Schumi showed at both Adelaide 1994 and Jerez 1997 that he has a mean streak in him and isn't afraid to show it on track. Whereas Alonso has no previous examples of carrying out these types of tactics. However the main difference between Alonso and Schumi is that when Schumi done his infamous 'Monaco park' job, his move affected the ten cars who were involved in the final section of qualifying. Whereas Alonso's only affected his team-mate and no other cars Not trying to defend Alonso though. It was a sneaky move that will have a big consequences both in the team and down the pitlane |

I think what happened was that Alonso's trainer (the guy Ron walked down pit lane) was holding his mic open and telling Alonso that Kimi was on his flyer and to wait so as to avoid coming out in front of Kimi. By holding his mic open, the team couldn't speak to Alonso. So, FA has his own team within the team. |
