Also, if McLaren get penalised, Alonso can be free next year to go to another team. Briatore is dreaming of Alonso's return as offers has been made(according to some media).

I really wouldn't be surprised if Flav is campaigning to get Macca DQ'd. If that happens, then Renault would be in the top 3 in the WCC.

EDIT:

Thinking about it, he probably is also eyeing up Todt's position at Ferrari, which would no doubt be a dream come true for Italian Flav.

Notice regarding withdrawn Briatore report

By Biranit Goren Saturday, August 4th 2007, 09:53 GMT

Doubts have been cast over the accuracy of Renault F1 CEO Flavio Briatore's remarks regarding McLaren and the spying affair.

Due to the serious nature of Briatore's claims against McLaren and the ramifications these accusations may have on all involved, autosport.com has decided to remove the original story, which was based on a translation of Briatore's quotes in Italian, until we have fully verified what exactly Briatore said yesterday at Budapest.

Autosport.com will run the story again later today once all quotes have been confirmed. Furthermore, if we find any discrepancy from what has already been reported - be it on autosport.com or in the Italian press - we will disclose that as well
