A German motor racing magazine has disclosed that Formula One decision makers may be in favour of modifying the championship’s tyre regulations for the 2008 season. Auto Motor und Sport magazine reported on July 30 that Bridgestone could be asked to offer a wider selection of tyre compounds at each grand prix – a move intended to increase the strategy options available to participating teams.

The championship’s smaller teams are reportedly more strongly behind the idea, while the major players have given a lukewarm response to any such changes. Bridgestone too is said to be less than enthusiastic, as implementing the proposed changes for next year’s season would involve additional expense and preparatory work.

I found this link by chance, its almost like a blog <dunce> ,anyone got any better links?

Umm, Bstone, you are the sole supplier. Either provide the tires required by the FIA and F1, or get out!

As long as they return to slicks that's the main thing. Mechanical grip is better than aero grip for overtaking opportunities <thumbsup>

Five Live reported on this, someone at Spyker said it was likely to happen.

What would a wider selection involve though? All 4 different types being offered at ervery grand prix?

Oh that, no that wasn't what I heard :P as far as I was aware, the change was to have larger difference in performance between each of the 4 designated compounds. Having more compounds to choose takes things back to how it was before this season.

That would make sense, so probably not.
