Autosport.com - Tost: Speed replaced due to performances Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost has said Scott Speed was replaced at the Italian squad because he wasn't performing as expected. Speed has been replaced by German Sebastian Vettel for the remaining part of the season following the European Grand Prix, where the American and Tost were involved in an altercation. Speed accused Tost of having grabbed him by the neck following a heated discussing after he had spun out of the race. The driver said after the race that "you couldn't pay me enough money to race for those two people (Tost and Gerhard Berger) again". Tost, however, has said that Speed was replaced because of his performances. So grabbing a driver by the neck was down to his performances all season, but not a dislike of the driver? |

Well that's obviously not true, because Liuzzi has performed at a similarly abject level this season. OR...perhaps it is the car. Or the fact they would rather see Bourdais test it than Speed or Liuzzi. |

In my opinion Speed is a better driver then Liuzzi. I think it is down to either personality because Speed is a cocky git or with Indy being dropped for next year there is no commercial benefit to having an American driver. |

I have to say i did get the impression that Speed was full of himself, and the Indy thing sure makes sense too. *GOES TO FIND SOMEONE TO "PUNCH" IN THE BACK* |
