Former Ferrari engineer Nigel Stepney continued to protest his innocence on Tuesday regarding the Formula One spying controversy.

Stepney was accused of passing Ferrari information to McLaren chief designer Mike Coughlan, who has since been suspended by the world championship leaders.

"I did not take any designs away from Ferrari. Someone passed on the designs but it wasn't me," Stepney told Italy's La Repubblica.

"I do not want to involve other colleagues. I know one part of the story, not all. Ferrari know the whole story."

From http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/61240

Stepney continues to insist that he did not pass on the data to Coughlan. But if it wasn't him, who did it? It seems that Stepney is pointing the finger at one of his Ferrari ex-colleagues, but he is the one taking the rap for it. Are Ferrari as squeaky-clean as they are making out? What action are they taking against the people Stepney is accusing, if any? And will Ferrari ever get to the bottom of this, or is Stepney a convenient scapegoat?

Nigel can say he doesn't want to involve other colleagues. By if my professional life was on the line and I was innocent, I'd have no problems pointing out guilty people.

Well if my best mate were willing to let me take the fall and have my career/life ruined for something he did, we probably would be best mates much longer anyway....

In another article (I can't find the link any more), Stepney referred to the sabotage charges, and claimed someone had put white powder in the pocket of his trousers while he was in the shower.
I think those that are in the know are all telling a few fibs to cover their own tracks, which is muddying the water so much that none of us can tell what is fact and what is fiction any more.
I have no idea whether Stepney is guilty or not, but someone is lying, because if you add everyone's version of events together, you get a novel that even James Bond would be proud to star in.
