Who would have thought after Hungary last year that Button would be where he is now in the points table - tied in 16th with a rookie who has only driven one race, and even trailing Ralf! ![]() How quickly things can turn around for a team, and it really does highlight how a crap car can make a driver look worse than he actually is, just as a average driver can also be flattered by a good car. Rumours are now going round that Jenson is threatening to quit F1 if Honda can't get their act together. But what other option does he have? There really aren't any other decent seats up for grabs with other teams, and I expect to get to the top in motor sport, you need to have an ultra competitive personality, so to have tasted success last year, and then to suffer a year like he's had this year must be incredibly frustrating. I've never really felt the 'Jenson love', and felt that perhaps a bit over hyped in the past by the media, but you really do have to feel for the guy with the crap hand he has been dealt this season. ps. don't turn this into a button bash thread

Leave F1? where will he go? He'll be no good at the American racing, he's not tough enough for touring cars, and hasn't got the patience for sportscars. |

Button was a guest in the commentary box. I doubt Speed will be a guest co-commentator for SPEED channel and so on so why did we have to suffer? ![]() Actually to be fair to Button, he did a decent job, it was just the accompanying thoughts which weren't pleasant. |

You don't want to know Rob - it was very bad! I can't see Jenson retiring for a few years yet unless it is forced. If he has any internal drive then he will want to race for as long as possible in F1 - look at Jean Alesi. Like Jenson he won his first race in his sixth full season of F1, but continued to race for another 6 years at the top level |

I think Button has the ability to win more than Alesi did. Although I am by no means a fan of him, Button is a very good driver, and Honda have let him and Barrichello down badly, Button especially so. |

I see. I'm guessing he was w/ James Allen then. I could say many bad things, but this is a family board.

He was indeed Rob and Martin Brundle. It looked a bit of a tight squeeze and to be honest his contributions weren't anything special It could be worse I suppose - we could have Derek Daly commentating! |
