Stoner is looking good for this weekend

Surprised at Hayden being so far down so far. He isn't having the best of seasons at all

I think it's better to have all the race stuff in one thread, so eventually I'll stick the qualifying and results here. Just getting the spoiler warning in early.

Still Stoner all the way, but nice to see Loris getting some of his old speed back. You would say Bridgestone have the edge, but of course that might turn out to be rubbish. Good job by Fabrizio so far too.

Qualifying:

MotoGP

Pos Rider Bike Time
1. Casey Stoner Ducati 1:22.384
2. Dani Pedrosa Honda 1:22.388 + 0.004
3. Marco Melandri Honda 1:22.397 + 0.013
4. Randy de Puniet Kawasaki 1:22.539 + 0.155
5. John Hopkins Suzuki 1:22.561 + 0.177
6. Valentino Rossi Yamaha 1:22.605 + 0.221
7. Loris Capirossi Ducati 1:22.615 + 0.231
8. Alex Barros Ducati 1:22.897 + 0.513
9. Sylvain Guintoli Yamaha 1:22.958 + 0.574
10. Shinya Nakano Honda 1:22.969 + 0.585
11. Chris Vermeulen Suzuki 1:23.049 + 0.655
12. Anthony West Kawasaki 1:23.056 + 0.672
13. Colin Edwards Yamaha 1:23.090 + 0.706
14. Nicky Hayden Honda 1:23.151 + 0.767
15. Carlos Checa Honda 1:23.182 + 0.798
16. Alex Hofmann Ducati 1:23.199 + 0.815
17. Michel Fabrizio Honda 1:23.491 + 1.107
18. Makoto Tamada Yamaha 1:23.744 + 1.360
19. Kurtis Roberts KR 1:24.209 + 1.825

Very tight qualifying and very strange too. Nearly every rider was up in the first two and mostly three sectors but lost everything in the final corner and run up to the finish line. Which is what happens if you ride the Sachsenring in MotoGP games, so I guess they are realistic in that sense.

Can't say what will happen in the race as it depends who's got the tyre, but you can't really rule out any of the usual suspects. Pedrosa might be a good bet though.

Well with Kawasaki signing Hopkins and trying to get Capirossi I guess he's trying too hard.

It was Bastille Day too yesterday so I guess he was trying even harder.

But it's working though isn't it?

I guess he's thinking death or glory. Besides he has got some good results when he manages to stay on. I don't think he has any chance of a ride if he brings it home 14th every weekend.

Warm up times-

1. Casey Stoner AUS Ducati Marlboro Team (B) 1min 22.862 secs
2. Valentino Rossi ITA Fiat Yamaha Team (M) 1min 22.873 secs
3. Colin Edwards USA Fiat Yamaha Team (M) 1min 22.949 secs
4. Loris Capirossi ITA Ducati Marlboro Team (B) 1min 22.963 secs
5. Marco Melandri ITA Gresini Honda (B) 1min 23.028 secs
6. Nicky Hayden USA Repsol Honda Team (M) 1min 23.213 secs
7. Randy de Puniet FRA Kawasaki Racing Team (B) 1min 23.238 secs
8. John Hopkins USA Rizla Suzuki MotoGP (B) 1min 23.256 secs
9. Dani Pedrosa SPA Repsol Honda Team (M) 1min 23.454 secs
10. Anthony West AUS Kawasaki Racing Team (B) 1min 23.565 secs
11. Alex Hofmann GER Pramac d'Antin MotoGP (B) 1min 23.592 secs
12. Carlos Checa SPA Honda LCR (M) 1min 23.613 secs
13. Chris Vermeulen AUS Rizla Suzuki MotoGP (B) 1min 23.799 secs
14. Sylvain Guintoli FRA Dunlop Tech 3 Yamaha (D) 1min 23.827 secs
15. Shinya Nakano JPN Konica Minolta Honda (M) 1min 23.997 secs
16. Michel Fabrizio ITA Gresini Honda (B) 1min 24.124 secs
17. Makoto Tamada JPN Dunlop Tech 3 Yamaha (D) 1min 24.163 secs
18. Kurtis Roberts USA Team Roberts (M) 1min 25.792 secs
19. Alex Barros BRA Pramac d'Antin MotoGP (B) 1min 27.387 secs

Stoner vs. Rossi for a change. Not complaining though, its about time MotoGP had a great rivarly.
