2007 Drivers Takuma Sato Anthony Davidson Team Stats Super Aguri Wins: 0 Podiums: 0 Poles: 0 Points: 4 (Sato – 4) TPL Team Rating- 5 Team Performance Super Aguri have been a surprise this season. They were surprisingly quick during the winter testing and this carried through to Australia where Sato managed to qualify in the top 10 and Davidson just outside in 11th. The other major acheivement for this small team is the fact that they have been beating their sister team Honda on a regular basis although Honda are now starting to get the better of them as they start to sort their dog of a car out. Sato got a points finish in Spain where a great by Sato saw him beat the Renaults and in Canada in very tricky conditions and in a crazy race Sato managed 6th position including a fantastic move on the world champion in the proccess. Overall it is has been a very positive season for them however they have had a couple of reliability issues and sometimes the team's tactics haven't made the most of their grid positions. Also a big cloud that hangs over the team is the issue about customer cars and how much of the work is actually theirs and how much is actually the work of the main team and big boys back in Japan. Despite this there has been a comprimise made about customer cars and Super Aguri have done alot of the work on the cars themselves, it is mainly the chassis that has been given to them, one thing you can see is in terms of making the car fast they have made the most of what has been given to them which is more than you can say for Honda. Super Aguri have to continue to develop their car so that they can keep theses giant killings up. They do now face the risk of spending the second half of the season at the back with Spyker. They will want to avoid this otherwise onlookers will start asking questions. Driver Performance Takuma Sato- Sato's pace has been very good this season which in fairness it has been throughout his career. He is now making the most of it and not crashing at every given opportunity. He has made it into the top 1 shootout this year and regularly made it into Q2. He has also scored all the team's points this season. His best moment was his move around the outside of Alonso in Canada. Moves like this show how much his race craft has improved, you could imagine a couple of years ago Sato cocking this move up and Alonso shaking his fist at anger at him. Sato deserves huge praise for resurrecting his career after a disastrous 2005 season. He will hope to keep this form up for that big teams start taking notice, not many people expect him to be ahead of highly rated Davidson but thus far he has been. Anthony Davidson- So far for Anthony this has been a learning year and at times a bit frustrating. It is clear that ge does have alot pace, he has sometimes got into Q2 but in the races it hasn't always quite worked out for him, he has had the odd gremlin or not got the tactics quite right in the race. In the race that he was on course for a great result he hit a beaver in Canada, that race probably sums his season up so far, good pace but just not quite getting where he wants to be although he did have a very good race in Indy overtaking sister team mate Button in the proccess. Rookie errors like the one in Q1 at Silverstone recently won't have helped his confidence. He will be frustrated that Sato has slightly outpaced him and got the team's points. However Anthony's moment will come and he will get another year in the team next season to prove he can get results. For the rest of this season he just has to keep his chin up and concentrate in getting the better of Sato. |

Clever.... inverted scores 1-10 not 10-1 as in the other polls... I nearly voted 8

Gave them 7, until recently their form has been excellent compared to last season. They seem to be falling behind again though, which is a shame. |

Super Aguri have had up until the end of the North American races a great year, and it's a shame that they seem to be falling behind at present - although much of that is probably to do with the limited development work you can do on a customer chassis. I think the best part of Super Aguri's season is probably over - but don't discount either driver from springing a surprise later on. Plus Super Aguri get a few extra points for consistently beating Honda, which is excellent to see. |

I also went for 7/10. They have been a real breath of fresh air and you can't say fairer than outperforming the main Honda team, however poor Honda have been. To get their cars into the top 10 at times, even in quali, is a very good achievement. Sato has been outstanding at times and solid at other times, hopefully in the process putting an end to his reputation as a fast-moving mobile crash test dummy. His two points finishes were very good performances and, in general, he has put Davidson right in the shade. Davidson has had some decent drives but overall has been one of the disappointments of the season. Many expected him to beat Sato but he has not even been better than Yamamoto, who took over from Montagny midway through last season. He has had some bad luck and probably would have one or two points on the board by now if not for that, but he has still been outperformed solidly by Sato. |
