Circuit: Circuit De Magny-Cours
No. of GP: 16
Length: 2.74 miles/ 4.41 km
Turns: 13
Laps: 70

- This will be the 17th time that the French Grand Prix has been held at the rural circuit of Magny-Cours. The circuit has only undergone two changes since that first race - the Esse Chicane after the Adelaide hairpin was removed in 1992, and the final section was re-modified in 2003 to create an overtaking spot.

- Magny-Cours became the seventh circuit to host a world championship grand prix in France. The others are Reims, Rouen, Charade, Le Mans, Paul Ricard and Dijon.

- The 1961 race at Reims was etched into history as Giancarlo Baghetti became the first and so far only F1 driver to win on his debut.

- The 1979 race at Dijon was memorable in F1 history for two reasons - it became the first win for a turbo engine in F1 when Jean-Pierre Jabouille took victory for Renault, and it produced a fantastic battle between Jabouille's team-mate Rene Arnoux and Gilles Villeneuve in the Ferrari where the drivers constantly swapped positions for several laps before Villeneuve secured the position.

- F1 has only raced once at the famous Le Mans circuit in 1967. It was run on the shorter Bugatti circuit at the venue but was deemed to be a 'Micky Mouse' circuit. F1 has never returned to the venue since

- Without doubt the most popular French GP has been Circuit Paul Ricard, named after it's founder, on the south coast of France. Although a bland circuit compared to the old road circuits, it was always popular due to it's climate and location. It was shortened in 1986 following the death at the circuit of Elio De Angelis during testing for Brabham.

- The race moved to Magny-Cours in 1991 for domestic political reasons. A modern, ultra-smooth track, the layout is not without challenge for the drivers but strikes most observers as bland and sterile all the same.

- Michael Schumacher is the most successful driver in the history of the French GP with eight wins. Alain Prost is next, having won his home race six times. The legendary Ayrton Senna never managed to win in France - his best result being 2nd in 1988.
