To those who are familiar with my passport woes, good news. My Congressman called and gave me a Federal Express tracking number for my documents. My passport is in the air and on its way. Fed Ex is very reliable, the US government is not necessarily so. Fed Ex said they will deliver tomorrow!

Saturday I'm off to Gatwick, then down to Eastbourne, Goodwood, and to meet a few of you here and there.

Whew.

Thanks JJB. Many people on this forum have shown genuine concern for my problem. It's refreshing to know that people do care.

<peek>  Has it arrived yet?

Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!

I don't know why I worried, after 14 weeks I still had 23 hours to spare. I spent the morning sitting in a lawn chair at the end of my driveway with a couple of cool ones, a mobile phone, some snacks, and an old dog. I'll be in London 9:10 am on Sunday.

Whew!

Have a nice trip Flood,

I guess as little English rain will be a doddle to a New Orlean dude... Hope it all goes well.

Thanks John. We get 8 to 10 inches of rain at a time but it only lasts a few hours. Then we wade out to the yard and avoid alligators.

Ouch... no fear of anythin quite like that in Blighty... even the snakes are friendly.

Like most of nature, alligators are misunderstood. They are shy, and like myself, just want to be left alone. Take a look at Google Earth for Maurepas Louisiana and you will see the great swamp north of New Orleans.

I'm pleased to report that Flood1's passport was considered valid enough to allow him into England. Whether he gets back into the States is another matter entirely - particularly considering the traffic violations on the M25, the M1, the A511 ...

Mrs Flood is apparently in fear of her life at his driving over here - she told me last night over dinner that the sidewalls of the tyres on their hire car have taken a bit of a pounding where he's been bouncing off the kerbs <yikes>

Anyway. I can confirm that Flood1 does indeed have a valid passport - not only have I SEEN it , I've actually HELD in my hand! Whitestar was a bit slow with the camera on his mobile, what with his broken wrist, otherwise we'd have had a picture of it as well!
