How do you get your tinted windows checked out for legality? I saw this on a motoring magazine and some of the new mercedes are sold new with illegal tinted windows

You need a light meter like photographers use. I think. But yeah, it's a big problem... However, it could have a rather annoying upshot in the motorsport departement, where rally car windows have to be covered in a film of some description. most crews tint their windows to pass scrutineering. But they also have to be road legal as well... |

How many bugatti veyrons do you see everday compared to the thousands of "Tinted" saxos on the UK roads?

Add to this that nearly all car windows are tinted when they leave the factory anyway - so adding anything extra could well cause a problem. Blacked out windows, very mafiosi looking, but apparently illegal. To be honest, I'm with the road saftey brigade on lots of things - but this one is a bit baffling - what next, banning wearing sunglasses if you haven't got tints? |

In some of the hot parts of the World (like Florida) you see a lot of tinted windows, in an effort to cut down on the glaring sun. My father in law (who is over 70) has them, and I would not call him a chav! |
