http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/58585 and Paul di Resta came 2nd in a 2 year old car. Really Mercedes, Paffett in a year old car is like Schumacher or Rossi on year old machinery, a total waste. |

Parfett wants to get into F1. What he's doing in a series most F1 bods go after they leave F1 is beyond me but there you go. For a former champion however, he should have the latest tools at his disposal - his skill handling the year old car in such convincing fashion however just shows you what skill he has. or how bad the new cars are. |

Or how relatively little the new cars advance.... I remember a good few years back in 1997 that Andre Ribeiro (or was it Adrian Fernandez) was furnished with a 1995 Reynard chassis in the CART series whcih was fitted with current spec aero parts and engine in a couple of races. He did rather well to say the least and caused a few raised eyebrows... Sometimes, it's not what you've got but what you do with it! |

Great. The title of this thread saves me watching the replay then. Please see THIS THREAD |

Again, I reiterate.... If you don't want to find out accidentally, don't go to a motorsport board!!!!

I agree with WW and Norbert. As a courtesy one can be vague in a thread title to avoid spoiling. But, what's a reasonable amount of time to allow for this sort of thing? If one plans to watch a week from now it is unreasonable to concern one's self about spoiling. On the other hand, I try to get interest in my threads by using titles like "I Hate Driver's Aids" because I want people to look. Maybe if the thread is alive I can explain bias settings etc. On topic, many races are won with older cars. Sports car racers at the top in the US, like ALMS, use the cars for years. |

Norbert, I'm an Admin - I HAVE to be here sometimes, just to check that everyone is behaving themselves! We must be one of the few motorsport boards who don't have this as a forum rule. Some of the others actually state that if you post a result without using the word *SPOILER* in the thread title, the thread will be removed. I would hate us to go down that road as that seems a little Draconian to say the least. I've already received one complaint from a member saying his viewing was ruined and that in future he will not visit the site until he has watched what he has recorded. As we are trying to encourage members to join, I think turning them away in this manner is not good. |

I'm with WW there... It's better to be welcoming to everyone at all times than chase them away by revealing what happens. That's why Spoilers and or vauge titles are a good idea. so something like Spoiler:DTM Oschersleben would be a more suitable thing. that would even work without the spoiler bit. |

As one who frequents movie and TV forums a lot, I find it frustrating when somebody posts spoilers in the title. Like "SO-AND-SO DIES!!!" or something. I think thread titles should not contain spoilers, because it's unfair on other users. There are tons of ways thread titles can be rearranged so as to not contain spoilers - why choose one WITH spoilers? |

Sorry, but common sense must prevail. You are *not* turning someone away if people post stuff about a race that has just happened, you are asking them to use some initiative. In fact, it's almost like you are trying to repress free speech...! Yes, a modicum on sense from the person posting the result would be useful, but at the end of the day if you find out the result by coming here, well, it's 75% your fault. Coming to a sport forum unaware of the result of something you are going to watch later is about as intelligent as watching the evening news on the BBC before the grand prix highlights on shITV and whinging that the Beeb have ruined your evening. Stradlin does a blinder for me with his Sky+ box for Daytona and Indy, and I wouldn't dream of visiting this board until I've watched them, or the BBC sport website. In one case, it was a week! I didn't feel any resentment towards the board, it's posters or admin, I just felt that I was doing the thing that made most sense. And as for HAVING to be here because you're an admin, well, you're not the only one - we have plenty of admins, mods etc, for that very reason. There's also PM, email and MSN to keep in touch by if you feel that the rest of us aren't capable of managing without you.....
