My mum opted out of the "335i" badges on her new car to surprise the boy racers....

The twin pipes would be a clue as to the powerplant.... <think>

Very true but I'm not sure how many of them would know the difference between a 330i and a 335i anyway, especially as she's got a touring model for practical purposes. It's a lovely car actually. My dad says it's almost as quick as his M3 but in a different way. I'll give a full run-down on it when I get a proper trip somewhere!

May be Honda have been taking pricing lessons from BMW.

But I thought BMW and Merc charged to take them OFF....? Maybe they could come to an arrangement. Honda could buy their badging department so that BMW didn't need to debadge their cars to spare the blushes of those who can't afford the biggest engine in the series, and Honda could then fit Type R badges as standard for those who want their Type R to be properly branded - ie what else do you buy an R for???

It's a no cost option to remove the identification badges on a BMW. My mum opted out of the "335i" badges on her new car to surprise the boy racers ;-) I like the discrete option. My Type-R doesn't have the big Manga-style stickers on the side valances, looks much cleaner as a result. No one driven the Megane 230 R26 though?

Could not post on here yesterday :(

I have test driven both the R26 and the R27.

The Megane was fantastic around Knockhill and the traction and performance stood out the most.

On the side roads the ride was hard and the steering was not as good having a little less feel but again the traction for a front drive car was amazing <thumbsup>

The only thing was the Megane looked better in the skin that i thought it would be but the shape is starting to look dated as with some of the materials used inside the car but the seats were spoton <thumbsup>

Clio was amazing as well and the package looked and felt better put together but this of course is a newer car than the Megane.

The Chassis was just about the best i have driven and that includes Clio Williams,Porsches and Evo's.

On the track the car was amazing but on the side roads it did feel a bit lacking in power at low range and you have to thrash it to get the best out of it.

If the Clio had the Megane engine <yikes>

All in all two great cars but the Clio could handle 50bhp more with ease.

The Megane was impressive and fast but just seemed a bit dated next to the clio

Any questions just ask

Cheers dude, I appreciate that. one of my concerns is the build quality and interior quality. One of the things I love about my Civic is the seat, steering wheel, gearbox, etc. It's all bob-on. I'm anxious about spending all my worldly wealth on a French car! Having said that, the car I really want is an Elise; hand built in Norfolk haha!

I know what you mean about build quality but the Clio really did feel better put together esp after i returned to driving a Clio Williams which felt like a tin can after.........lol

I know this will prob make you fall off your seat but the new cooper S is a great little car and the quality inside is very impressive.

It was very close to the Clio when it came to the drive and handling plus there is to be a works package due in July this year.
