It is still a car and I recall one owner and his passengers killed near stansted airport because he was not crashing into a barrier head on a 40mph.... There is no such thing as a totally safe car when it comes to speed and crashing... But I would also have an F1 if I could... but for that fantastic engine in the back...

The problem is that how ever safe you try to make cars, there is always a situation that gets overlooked. For example, while cars were bing made stronger and subject to stricter crash testing, it wasn't until a few year ago that someone thought about testing pedestrian inpacts on cars. It was found that newer, heavier, supposedly safer cars were more harmful to pedestrians than older cars. Also, you can make a car as strong as you like at the front, but if that car is T-boned, all that extra strength won't help you, if it is not fitted with side impact bars. |

Impressive as a technical beast any way you cut it. However, I'm sure my brain would be slammed against the inside of my skull and kill me anyway. And, they drove it away!! |

Having the engine mounted in the back helped in that respect... I wonder if it would still drive away from a rear end shunt at 60km/ph...

Nah, you need a toyota hilux (a la Top Gear) for that. |
