What's with this "positive" discrimination? Discrimination is discrimination. End of. Norbert, if you want a hand suing Sheila's Wheels, Diamond or whatever, give me a shout. I'm sure one of our lawyers would love to help you out (for a very large fee!)

US studies show that young males get into more accidents (partially because they drive more then young women) but when comparing accidents, young women's accidents cost more - they are more likely to total the car where the guys just have some damage. And women's insurance is lower because it is believed they drive less - given a husband/wife or bf/gf going somewhere, the assumption is the man will drive, thus has more chances for accidents. A number of insurance companies have looked at raising the rates for girls under 25 but... politics and such play into these decisions. |

an hour before the gp, and way too much energy to sit around passively. this isn't discrimination, it's statistical probability, based on reliable historical fact. unless you want to pay the same insurance at 40 years old as a just passed 18year old, or the same health insurance as a 60 year old chain smoker - and i don't - it's best to let the actuaries do their job and leave them to it |

I don't think sgender makes any difference to how you drive. Men have more accidents than women because they drive more in the form of white van men and other professional drivers, If you drive more, inevitably you are more likely to have an accident. I've met a fair few women that are atrocious drivers but get away with it because they drive so slow that any accident damage would not be worth claiming for (hence not reported to the insurance company). Also, mu=y brothers wife's car is bumped on every corner and she has only been driving 18 months. |

Spot on! Its all risk assesment. On average, women drive fewer miles than men. Therefore they have less chance of having an accident (Some may say they make the most of the small chances they get... not me though... Honest )

When i get days off work i walk my children to school. Watching all the women drivers, especially the ones with huge 4 x 4's scrapping their alloys on pavements, knocking lamp posts as they manouvere to park and clipping wing mirrors on other parked cars, Its like a mild form of demolition derby demolition derby There are more minor non-insurance accidents in one morning than there are children walking to school. Yep women may be classed as more careful, but only because they must pay a hell of a lot more to mend minor accident damage themselves which don't show up on insurance company surveys. |

A few facts for you. More Men than Women drive as a rule. I believe that at some point the DVLA said that there were up to 20% more men regestered with licences. If a man and a women are together aparently it is 75% more likely that the man will be driving especially if long distances are involved. With this in mind men are driving more often and doing longer distances which puts them at higher risk at having an accident etc. |

When we have a woman WDC in F1 then I will cede to the women being as good as men. Until then, call me a bigot, but men are much more skillful! |

This theory is slightly flawed, If you have a million people doing something that requires skill the chances are out of the million there will a quite a few that are exceptional at it, maybe 1 or 2 that are truely exceptional (Schumacher, Senna, Clark etc....) Now if you do that same thing but you only have 2000 people doing it then the chances of finding anyone that's exceptional at it is rather reduced, and the chances of finding anyone truely exceptional pretty slim. The fact is not many women are active in motorsport compared to men, so the chances of a woman being WDC at F1 is GREATLY reduced! Having said this a still think that MOST woman drivers are TERRIBLE. They seem to have a need to stop at EVERY junction even though its clear. They don't seem to look any further than the bonnet of the car when driving. They have ZERO spacial awareness. They CANNOT park. They NEVER look in their wing/rear-view mirrors. God I could go on and on, yes men have more accidents. Its plainly because they drive FAR more, there are FAR more professional male drivers, males do have much more tendency to speed etc.....All these reasons however Don't make women drivers better than men!!! You just need to spend an hour driving on the roads to see that, almost every idiotic move or manoeuvre will be committed by a woman driver. Rant over. roflmao |

What's hard about parking? And I bet i'd beat most of you boys round a track! We never look in our rear view mirrors? Sod off! Zero spacial awareness? Sod off again! The bottom line remains. Girls pay less then lads for insurance and that's the way I like it! <thumbs>
