frank and patrick head had (have?) a policy of not paying up for a championship winning driver. certainly hill and jacques were guilty of demanding more cash because of their improved resume, and frank would have none of it.

wonder how much ralf was getting for doing naff all.

around $15milion, he wanted a payrise of about 5 or 6 million so williams told him to stuff it.

I dont know where he could go, replace fisi maybe. Ferrari and mclaren look to be set with their drivers.
Maybe honda will come good.

why would you replace fisi with a driver you know isnt as good as fisi? <think>

Button was very raw and immature as a driver back in those days. Remember that many great champions took a few year to find their feet in F1.
I am sure that Button would consistently beat Fisi if they were in the same team right now.
I suspect that Renaults time as the champs and now been and gone, and Button would do better to stay where he is, or replace Massa at Ferrari.

fair point.though it seems like only yesterday they were team-mates to me it was actually 2001!
lots could have changed in that time.

but i still dont think jb has a chance of a renualt drive while flav is there i - i dont think he is a fan - i agree ferrari would be nice.

but its all hypothetical anyway since he has this honda deal which ends when nobody seems quite sure.

i have read more than once its beyond rubens deal.and it runs to the end of 2008 (though may end slightly earlier depending on how things go this year!)

so either honda get sorted or someone pays them a lot of money to get jb.

i dont know how likely either is tbh.

As a Ferrari fan, I would welcome a driver swap, Massa for Button.
