Is he right? http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=38567 I think over the next couple of years mclaren have a very good chance but they need to make sure they take it, in a couple of years time I think F1 will become more competitive at the front and championships will be harder to win, so if Ferrari are their only main opponents in 07 then they need to make sure they put everything into beating them this year. Overall the car looks very, the engine seems better and more reliable than upto the end of 2005 and and car seems well suited to the bridgestone tyres which could become a very important factor this year and of course Alonso will give alot more the team than Kimi did overall I think. |

They could do it. The new homologated engine rules plays into their hands - because they no longer have to spend all their development money trying to get more power or develop new types of engine, they can concentrate on 100% reliability. McLaren's speed has not been their biggest problem over the last 3-4 years its been the reliability. Now, with Alonso and a stable power platform, I think they need a really really good excuse if they don't win it. |

Um not so fast....sure McLaren have not had the best finishing record, but if you look at 04 and 06, when they finished more often than not they were off the podium. They have not been fighting for wins. Perhaps this year they are getting it sorted out, but speed as well as reliability has been their problem. |

Ahem. Sorry about that. If McLaren could get their reliability and consistancy as good as their speed has been the last few years, then they'd be laughing. The trouble is, how much of their speed has come from pushing the equipment too far, causing the rather poor reliability of recent years? |

OK they have were not as good as Ferrari, and then Renault, but they're consistently second. If they'd had reliability too then perhaps they would have been first despite their slightly inferior speed. |
