With Abu Dhabi and possibly Sinapore joining Monaco as proper street circuits on the F1 calendar (not counting Melbourne and Montreal), should F1 try to get more street circuits with possibly 5 per season? Or do street circuits not have a place in modern F1? |

Only if they are good. If they were to be crappy American-80's-style circuits, then definitely NOT. I'd say 3 max. |

Street races are always good fun (hell, even CART can make them fun) so i reckon a few more wouldn't help. But proper ones, with Monaco like pits, not just some hastily cobbled together hunk of junk. |

On the previous Forum, there was a thread where people put up ideas for NEW street circuits (I managed to take an idea for a Newcastle City circuit and really go to 'Toon' on it!) So, if you know a city, anywhere in the world, that could be turned into a Street Circuit, fancy having a go?

Sure - if the roads could take race cars. The other thread included a 'village' circuit created to the west (I think) of Belfast. |

Street circuits can be even more dangerous. Not only the obvious lack of run off, but their bumpy and narrow nature can make collisions almost unavoidable - and they're easy to block (see macau WTCC). Also, as A1GP proved with their Chinese race, it's very easy to create something which a racing car simply wont negotiate - remember that the turning circle on your average racer is awefully big! even rally cars suffer from this problem - not for nothing is the handbrake turn used! So, for those reasons, I would say leave the idea alone, unless you can solve both of those problems with a decent track. |
