Give a bull the same ponies as the title winners Renault, and transfer some top F1 technical talent - in the form of Adrian Newey - from McLaren to the Bull's stable and what happens ?

Not much, so far.

Red Bull Racing teammates David Coulthard and Mark Webber made it into the top dozen out of 18 runners at the Formula One Bahrain super test with the 11th and 12th quickest times, respectively.

The Renault-powered RB3 is designed by Newey, but continues to have some teething problems.

"The test has not been trouble free and a few elements still need fixing, but we have made some progress," said Team Principal Christian Horner.

That seems reasonable from a team that has worked so hard to put the right pieces into place, but clearly hasn't got the right pieces working together... yet.

This is before the finals days testing where DC was 9th, but yea they really seem to be struggling however they have two more tests at magny course and jerez and a completely new aero package which they will use in melbourne gaining them around half a second a lap hopefully.

Does this say something about Newey, Renault, or about DC and Webber? (or about the 05 Jag)

I don't know.

When Newey first signed for Red Bull I said it would take a sizable amount of time before results would come, so for me the form so shows no surprise so far.

I expect that after a slow start Red Bull will make alot of progress during the season and again thats what I said before as things start to come together.

When put a few very good elements and people together at the same time you can't expect it all to change for the better straight away, there is alot to used to, alot of transition.

The morale of the story is, give Red Bull a chance and don't call the renault engines, Newey and all the other new parts of the team failures a fortnight before the season has even started.
