Tires/Tyres

With the new season almost upon us, and for the first time for several years we have a single tyre supplier. Bridgestone will be supplying tyres to all teams, but there already whisperings of favoritism from the pits and the press.
Bridgestone have already been embarrassed when it was revealed that they were supplying tyres to Ferrari at no charge where as all the other teams have to pay. Now this does not mean that they were supplying special tyres to Ferrari, but it does suggest an element of favoritism.
And then there is the long wheelbase story. Several motoring journalist and team managers have expressed concern that Ferrari have went with a long chassis set up, when everyone else has found a shorter chassis to work better with the tyres. People are wondering if Ferrari are either receiving different tyres or at least receiving information about the tyres that has not been made available to all.
But this post is not here to feed fuel to the stories and rumors but rather to ask two questions,
1/ How are the tyres being distributed to the teams this year. I am not sure, and cannot look that up right now.

2/ And the main reason for this post – If you were Max Mosley how would you set up the distribution of Tyres to ensure that every team got the same rubber and not allow any room for speculations of favoritism?

There never was nor will there ever be such a thing as 'no favoritism' in Motorsport....

very sad, very annoying.... but a fact of life... IMO... now to the questions...

1) I assume... for I don't know... that a B'stone truck arrive at each Team's HQ and delivers the tyres.... maybe with some FIA seal on them.....

2) As the wheels are a standard size.... each weekends set could be in numbered batches 1-11 and first thing at each circuit the team principles pick numbers from a hat.... and collect their tyres....

the rules say this:

At each Grand Prix every team will be given access to two specifications of dry-weather tyre and each driver must make use of both specifications during the race (wet races excepted).

So I think "will be given access" means that they'll only get them at the track on the day.

If I were Mosley I'd have an FIA bod in the truck allocating randomly tyres to teams.

Of course.... Ferrari will have an exchange clause.... which is only fair <thumbs>

But the driver would at least get free coffee while his tyres were being changed.

Yeah but there is a reason it is free as anyone who has drank it will attest to!
