so far in practice all the expected teams are looking good - HSV, HRT, FPR and the newly rebranded team Vodafone among them

Holden v Ford is back! <fight>

I saw a preview show which was on Motors TV over here with Rick Kelly, Craig Lowndes, Mark Winterbottom and Jason Richards sitting down and discussing last season and the new season together

not many words between Lowndes and Kelly and I noticed some very evil looks by Lowndes towards Kelly

I don't think Ford have forgotton what happened at the last race of last season

hopefully FPR can go all the way this season, and if HSV and HRT are involved again, then they don't play the shameful tactics they did last season, which they did time and time again

Team Kiwi are switching to Ford and they will be the team I will be suppoting this season (even though they will probably be hopeless)

Race 1 review (by stradlin22)

Todd Kelly took victory in the opening V8 supercar race of the season at the Clipsal 500 at Adalaide
Kelly who started down in 7th on the grid came through to claim 1st place on the debut of the new Holden Commodore.
Pole sitter James Courtney in the Stone Brothers Racing Ford got a terrible start off the line and was down to 5th by the first corner before a coming together betweeen the two Supercheap cars of Paul Dumbrell and Cameron McConville and the BOC car of Andrew Jones brought havoc to the midfield.
Both Supercheap cars pitted as did Jones for repairs and all would rejoin but with the new points system none of them would be able to trouble the scorers.
Jamie Whincup assumed the lead the bad start by Courtney and was well out on front before slipping down an escape road on the oil of Fabian Coulthards Sirromet/Morris car which has blown an engine.
Whincup dropped down the order and the lead was taken by Todd Kelly who would never be caught.
Craig Lowndes was running 6th before he clashed with Max Wilson which resulted in a pit lane drive through penalty that would drop him to 13th by the finish.
Whincup and Courtney would eventually recover from their respective problems and finish 2nd and 3rd with the hard charging Champion, Rick Kelly right behind them. Rick had started well down the grid but due to good race pace, great overtaking and slick pit work by HSV got him into a top 4 position.
Ford Performance Racing finished 5th with Mark Winterbottom, Tander came in 6th and after a terrible 2006 Greg Murphy will be extremley happy to score an excellent 7th place finish in his first race for Tasman Motorsport.
Russell Ingall, Steven Johnson and Jason Bright in his first race for his own team would round out the top 10.

Race 2 review (by stradlin22)

This time it was the other Kelly's turn to take victory at Adalaide as Holden had a clean sweep of the weekend wins.
2006 Champion Rick Kelly led pretty much all of the race and took a very impressive victory ahead of race 1 winner Todd Kelly.
The start of the race was another disaster for SBR and James Courtney.
Courtney had a bad start in race 1 but he had an apalling start in race 2 and dropped as far back as 12th on the first lap.
The safety car was out early as Jason Bright ran wide and then cut back accross the track, making contact with Jason Bargwanna who was t-boned by Alan Gurr. Gurr was out and Bargwanna pitted before Steve Owen in the Autobarn racing car picked up some debries on his tyres and smashed into the Adalaide wall, all drivers were unhurt but Gurr and Bargwanna were upset with Bright.
The Kelly brothers dominated at the front after the safety car came back in but it wasn't in for long because Jack Perkins lost control of the Jack Daniels car and spun into the wall, it proved to be a tough weekend for Perkins and his fellow rookie teammate Shane Price.
The Kelly brothers were never touched, even when it looked like Garth Tander might close them down, he had to serve a pit lane drive through for an earlier pit lane error.
James Courtney stormed through the field to claim his second podium of the weekend ahead of Russell Ingall, Jamie Whincup and Steven Johnson.
All in all, the weekend belonged to Holden and the Kelly family
HRT and HSV have one win each already and its the perfect start to the season after a hectic last few weeks for both teams.

yep saw the races :D yep happy with Rick's win <thumbs> and Todd's too <thumbs>
James Courtney had a good drive in the second race as well

still think it's a bit dodgy that the round winner is the winner of the second race rather than points leader...
