Everyone knows I don't rate Kimi as a top notch driver, but I'd be surprised if he wasn't at least equal with Massa on raw pace, even if his consistancy is a bit lacking sometimes....  could be intersting to watch!

I think that people have gone way over the top with Kimi bashing with comments like this.
Its not that I rate Raikkonen super high, but it think he is a lot better than Massa. I for one am dumbfounded by the praise Massa seems to have bestowed upon him these days.
If the pint sized Brazilian scores more points than Kimi this year, I will eat a yard of Robs s__t on the main straight of the Daytona Speedway.

That's a might brave bet <yikes>

There is actually a pretty good Mexican place close to the track. If Massa beats Kimi I'll load up and give you my "leftovers" but I think you are pretty safe.

So the next logical question is if Kimi beats Massa who gets to eat my poop then?

I feel Mass has improved dramitically over the last 12 months, but I do feel that Raikkonen will beat him this year. Massa will probably make the better start to the season though, but once Kimi get used to the team and the way it works then his raw pace and natural talent should make him faster than Massa. If not then there could be big problems at Marenello

unbelievably the stats don't back that up. in the first 6 races where both finished MS fastest lap was 0.63s faster than FM, in the last 6 he was 0.50s faster.

maybe FM improved by a little over 0.1s, but is that dramatic ?

or was there another factor, like the car getting more competitive at the end of the season...

I think the thing that annoyed me most about Eddie Irvine was the fact that because he was in a great car and getting a few good results, he started thinking he was actually a good driver and started talking to the press as if he was one.

He lost sight of the fact that it was because he was ordinary that he was in the Ferrari!

I see Massa being the same.

Eh, Massa doesn't seem like a piss talker to me Saint. I think (hope) he knows he was hired to be a number 2, and in all reality saying he is Kimi's co-number one if just talk.

A lot of drivers are like that <thumbs>

Indeed, Rob!

So Kimi is quite ordinary in that respect: the thing that separates him from the rest of the drivers is that he tends to be very quick when the car is good, and not just moderately quick. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying he's not a good driver, but for me he just doesn't have that edge that Alonso does or Schumi did.
