After the improvements we have seen so far in testing with the Mclaren do you feel Alonso has been very clever in joining Mclaren at this precise moment in time?

Renault have been complaining about lack of pace and i can see them not delivering this season as far as the package goes.

The cyclic rhythm of F1 predicts that Renault will fall off the pace. Ferrari have to prove that massive team changes can keep their pace alive. Macca have been wiggling all around their pace and reliability. I think it was a timely move that will probably work out for FA. But, testing times tell me very little.

It's going to be interesting for the top 3 teams this year. Ferrari have lost the technical input of Ross Brawn and the driving ability of Schumi, Renault have lost Alonso and Pat Symonds has took a backward seat, and McLaren have a brand new driver line-up and this is the first McLaren that Adrian Newey hasn't designed in 10 years. In a way it's going to be who can make the best of a bad job as it's going to be a transitional year for all the top 3 teams but testing has showed that Alonso may have made the move at the right time

I think it is Alonso that was the main reason for Renault's dominance over the last few seasons. Without a lead driver, Renault could well find themselves where Mclaren found themselves last season. Mclaren I think have done a great deal. Of course it is too early to say for sure.

I for one think that Alonso's move to McLaren will prove to be a master stroke for his long term career. Renault have had a good couple of years, but I never could see them being at the top for more than that. I have confidence that McLaren will manufacture race winning cars for a long time to come.
