I gotta agree with Rob and the Saints last comments.

You don't know what you are in for now. Next you will be moving to the states, eating hot dogs, and buying a riding mower.

Well he can have my riding mower....I plan to look for a gated community in FL, somewhere where I can have a mexican mowing my lawn!

Perhaps a dangerous journey into the Amazonian Basin where all of your party dies and you and your lovely wife are the only survivors, having to rely on your independent thinking instead of following the hapless tour guide could make a good flick. It's god it all, danger, suspense, a jungle love scene ;-)

I'd but a ticket (for the movie, not the love scene...ok I'd buy a reasonably priced ticket for that too.)

i can't offer any amazon basin romances, but i can offer my tuppence worth of analysis on the testing.

what's come out, and makes me think that there's some value in looking at the times, is a strong correlation in car performance that might (big if) indicate the car's "natural" or inherent performance while we understand that they might be being driven at 7/10ths.

just looking at the average times relative to the day's fastest times, the results look like this:

mclaren
mclaren
ferrari
ferrari
bmw
williams
bmw
renault
williams
renault
toyota
toyota
honda
honda
red bull
red bull
aguri
aguri
spyker
spyker

remember the results from old hockenheim always used to look like this, because the track was all about the car...

i'll caveat this with a firm agreement that winter testing has never been reliable, but i just thought this analysis, after 9 days testing, was interesting.

Do you think the in-team reports suggest anything?

between the drivers i don't think i've picked up much, often the averages are very close. i'm pretty sure, however, alonso is cruising compared to hamilton, as is kimi, and heidfeld versus their team mates. maybe fisi too, but i'm loathe to give him the benefit of the doubt.

rosberg and wurz are an interesting couple, and i think most people are surprised by their testing performance, especially as frank isn't the sort of guy who plays games in testing. wurz being a little quicker at this stage might just show what an excellent tester he is...

it would be sweet if williams beat the hell out of toyota this year !

here's the driver list:

M LH
M FA
F FM
F KR
B RK
W AW
B NH
R HK
W NR
R GF
T RS
T JT
H JB
H RB
RB DC
RB MW
A AD
A TS
S AS
S CA

Reading testing is 50% looking at the times, 50% guess work, and 20% gut feeling.

Do they work out percentages differently in the US?? <doh>

I personally don't think anyone knows what testing performances mean other than the teams themselves....too many possibilities that need too much guess work.

It seems pretty safe to say that ferrari and maclaren look good, but I reckon that a lot of the talk around BMW is being based on the comments of some drivers....who may be trying to play up another team whilst playing down theirs.

PS. My addition to the aformentioned Amazonain Basin Love stories....My wife's half Uruguayan and raised in Colombia!!!!

So far i would say.........

1-Mclaren, have been up near the top in every major test session.
2-Ferrari, look ok always near the top as you would expect.
3-BMW look good at this point although when it all starts in OZ i expect them to battle with renault.
4-Renaut, look ok nothing that special although i think they will improve for melbourne
5-Williams, look quick straight out of the box
6-Redbull, not great but topping the timesheets on wedensday has given me hope
7-toyota-,quick at times but in recent weeks have fallen back a bit
8-Honda, have never been near the top in any session. Im sure they will improve

the bottom 3 havent tested that much so i couldnt say.
